🎶 Good Music 💩 Terrible Food 🚷 Abysmal Service 💰 Over Priced
Details: 🎶 Music: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ good music, I would reserve 5 stars for somebody like James Taylor. So three stars is pretty damn good. And no cover charge which was nice. Tip the musicians. 💰Spent $40+ for two drinks and two deserts +tip. Tipped the musicians. Overall it was a nice evening. Probably won’t be back here though. There are plenty of other places in the city to explore. Read why below. 🍮 Dessert: ✖️- Zero Stars - ordered the deconstructed lemon bar, it was just a super sugar overloaded “tasty cake” with a sugar syrup they called a “cranberry sauce” and standard whip cream from the can. Overall adding up to be about two tablespoons of a serving. Tasted like 💩 and cost 💰💸 way too much. Don’t make that mistake. Stick to the drinks and music and You will be okay. 🥃 Bar: ⭐️ ⭐️- Standard overpriced drinks. Nothing special.
Drama: So I came here to cap off a great night celebrating my birthday. We came in as the band was setting up and say at the bar and ordered our first drink. It was snowing (in March) and so it was a slow night. We decided to sit at the table near the band because they sounded good. After sitting, the hostess approached my wife and explained that they typically like to reserve this double table for parties of four. I walked up just after she finished explaining the first time to my wife and she explained it again to me. I responded “okay”, not sure why she was telling us this. The table next to ours was a single table with four people scrunched up on it. They could have just slid the table over and given that party more space. Anyways, so I asked her what she would like us to do. She said “um, could you like, Not sit here?” With this huge attitude as if to say “eff off”. I looked at our seats from the bar and noticed somebody just took our old seats and relied nicely “well, our seats at the bar just got taken, so we’re just going to sit here.” Looking around the restaurant noticing it’s not that busy. She was shocked 😮 and said with a huge attitude “okay, I’ll have to tell the wait staff” as if they were going to do something about it. I was prepared to talk to a manager and offer the table of four our extra table so that they had adequate space. Nothing came of it. Our waitress walked up pleased to have our business and was very nice. We were able to shake off the rude hostess, but will never be back again. Fire your hostess she’s chasing customers off trying to “flex” the little authority she thinks she has and is illogical in the process. It wasn’t a big deal, but was bad enough that I’ll wait for turnover to happen before I come back. To many other places in the world to check out before coming back asking to be threatened. You shouldn’t be a hostess, find a new job where you don’t interact...
Read moreYou gotta have high hopes, but when you do get ready for a few let downs. Time is all hype. There is nothing amazing about this place, at all!
It was really dark and now I know why. Our table and seat were filthy. Candle wax was all over the place. It’s very small. I don’t know if the darkness was to set the mood or to hide the dirt.
I had to come here two nights in a row. Apparently, if you want a seat where there’s live music, you need a reservation. So the first night we sat in the whiskey bar. For the first 10 minutes or so it was just us. We thought we had a server, but we did not. Sitting on the whiskey bar side means you have to walk to the bar to place your order. Even if you’re not sitting at the bar.
The bartender was friendly. Ordered shrimp and grits, burger and fries, green tea shots and brussel sprouts for a whopping $75!!! The food was mediocre. Whatever the red sauce or paste served with the shrimp was, it was too thick. I’m almost convinced that the reviewers of this place have no clue what good food is. My daughter ordered the burger and fries to be safe because she too was tired of the disappointments. The green tea shots were too sour and no whiskey at all.
The music seemed good the first night so we wanted to check out the live music, the reason for a second visit (it was not for the food for sure). Reservation was at 8:30. It was quiet as a church mouse. Tried talking to Isaac, the host, and that was a bust. He was very dry with us. But the next two guests we saw him interact with, he was quite the chatty Cathy. He informed us the music started at 9. It was 10 before the band got started. Shouldn’t have wasted my time. We ordered three drinks as we waited for the band to start the music. Two mojitos and a bidi bidi boom boom…$46!!! The drinks were better tonight but two mojitos should have had me together… nope.
In all my life I’ve never seen soup on a menu with the cost listed as MP. How is soup available at market price? There is a market for soup??? What a joke. Luckily, there wasn’t any soup. I needed to know why it was listed at MP!! It’s soup for crying out loud!
Don’t have any hopes coming here. Just show up. Maybe you’ll come on a night where the reviews will align.
I’m over Philly. Glad I’m going home because the food is too expensive...
Read moreWe are avid jazz listeners. We've been to many clubs in NYC, Europe and in other places in the world. My husband is a musician. This is our thing. Every place we go to, we check out the jazz scene. There aren't many clubs in Philly as it is so we were excited to come here. This place has the worst "at the door" service. If you are a foreigner, you will be given a hard time if you don't have your actual passport with you, which we obviously didn't have because we don't carry around with such an important document while walking around cities. However, we did have identification cards and licenses from our country and were denied at the door for not having a passport. This was our second time here. The last time was about 6 months ago and we didn't have an issue not having passports. Prior to arriving this evening, we were already at a different bar up the block and we didn't have an issue there with our IDs. Last week we were in NYC and didn't have an issue anywhere there. Maybe a scanning device or something that can amplify the watermarks and holograms from foreign IDs can help with this problem. We literally showed the bouncer the country ID and license and they both had the same DOB, same nationality, same address, etc. I mean, passports can also be falsified. We would never come back here. After spending the day watching the eclipse and touring the city, we wanted a nightcap, but we wouldn't be returning here after this kind of service. We even tried to pull up our ESTA travel authorization electronically but it wasn't working on our phone on the email attachment. So we just left. So much work just to buy a couple overpriced, warm beers. Not worth it. Sorry to the musicians because without them, this place wouldn't exist. (3 stars for the atmosphere from the last time we were here because aside from seating being limited in the music room, it takes forever for you to get drinks. You have to be overly proactive with the bartenders in order to get drinks, as, the ones behind the bar don't pay much attention to you. If you don't speak up, they won't even acknowledge you. We also had table seating that one evening prior and the servers take forever to come back to you if you want to...
