Such a fun date! Prices are a bit steep on certain items, especially considering that some items don't come included with the necessary accessories needed to hang/display them. The space is tight and a bit cramped, so it can be a bit overwhelming. I would personally describe Happy DIY as a great place for ideally 1-2 to go together without overcrowding the space. The absolute maximum amount of people I'd bring would be 4 at one time. However, there is specific seating that's dedicated to larger groups.
That being said, the environment is just so much FUN. Inside, there are macaroons and other collectible items being sold at the front counter while the entire backwall is filled to the brink with gems and gibits that are available for you to choose from to design your chosen item to 'DIY' design. The menu of items to design range from a hair brush, a mirror, a cell phone case, and the list goes on and on. There are multiple instructors walking the narrow aisles, so you rarely have to wait for any assistance, if ever. These instructors clearly and quickly demonstrate how to go about designing each piece, and then provide you with a couple useful tools in doing so. Once finished, your items are boxed up and you pay at the front counter. And then, you're on your way! All in all, I'd say it's a refreshingly fun yet efficient process.
For the person I'm dating and myself, we spent $42 (after tip) for two wreath-like ornaments that are intended to hang in your car. We spent 60-80 minutes inside, and parking in the area was pretty accessible without being unreasonably expensive. My date and myself both agree that this place is absolutely ideal for both a romantic date, a platonic date, a solo date, or just somewhere fun and creative to take young kids. It would like be too overwhelming for infants and/or elderly though.
We will certainly be returning to Happy DIY to design some cell phones cases and probably more soon, so I'd recommend going if you have the time and are looking for something new to do...
Read moreIt was a cute place but I didn’t have as much fun as I had hoped. In my opinion, the girl there was rude. I know in a response to another review they said they aren’t a class to teach how to decorate. So when I didn’t do it how you’re supposed to apparently the girl there had to come and make me feel bad about it. She said it definitely didn’t look good and why why are you doing it like that in a condescending way. Plus everytime she passed me again to look at my progress she would give me a judging look or just stand there and say nothing making it more uncomfortable. The two guys customers doing it how I was doing it didn’t get any rude comments about their work just me so I don’t know why she said anything. Atleast the guy employee was nice about it and asked me if I wanted to decorate the other side of my object and let me know that is I decorated the whole thing it might not be usable or charms would fall off. But it’s not like I was told to decorate both sides or what not to do. All they did was tell me to pick my items, charms, and frosting. They shouldn’t assume I’ve been there before and know what to do. Since it’s not a decorating class it would be nice if I decorated it how I wanted. I’m an already anxious person and a bit of a perfectionist so her making that comment and her looks made my time there very uncomfortable and unpleasant. If I had known that was gonna happen I would’ve done it myself at home and...

I took a trip to Philly not too long ago and decided to stop by Happy DIY to see what all they had to create. Happy DIY offers different crafts to decorate from phone cases and hairbrushes to picture frames and tote bags, just to name a few. But of course, the most popular is the phone case, which I opted to make during my visit. The young ladies walking around to assist you through the process were all really nice and helpful. Once you've selected your craft to decorate then you get to choose from a wall full of charms which was so hard to pick just a few. I loved all the choices but definitely got overwhelmed because I wanted them all. The young ladies then walk you through the process of decorating your items from start to finish and you're off to creating your own masterpiece.
This experience at Happy DIY was such a great afternoon activity for an affordable price. And to have a one-of-a-kind phone case that I've received so many compliments on is...
