Panache Hair Design — Local services in Philadelphia

This was my first visit and last visit at Panache Hair Salon, which I selected based on many of the reviews pertaining to the stylists that were listed. Unfortunately, mine was not one of those, which I realized after the fact. From the very beginning, there was confusion surrounding what services I needed to have done; however if you’re speaking at the same time that the client is talking, you probably wouldn’t have a clear understanding of expectations. My initial call stated I wanted a wash, curl, deep conditioner and color. This was re-stated in-person before any treatment began. The dots just didn’t connect with her. My hair was washed; I received some sort of conditioner and was sat in her chair. After a few minutes went by, I asked her if she forgot about the color. From this point, a five minute conversation commenced going back and forth with both sides defending the request (as part of the services) and lack thereof. This was followed by further information offered, letting me know that she had somewhere else to be and had she known I wanted this additional service, would have asked that I come in earlier. Well, don’t take clients at 5:30PM!!! What I needed could not have been made any clearer-after making the request twice. But once again, attitude and arrogance will get in the way every time. My stylist was combative, rude and made me feel uncomfortable in our interactions. It was challenging for her to engage in a healthy two-way adult conversation and I felt extremely agitated during the entire visit, which was rushed. I don’t know anything about the two gentlemen who work in the shop, but their clients appeared happy. For the amount of money I spent, I can go just about anywhere and receive better service and enjoy a relaxing experience. Oh, and I still tipped her...... When they go low,...

I have been plotting to go to Panache Hair Design for years, although could never find the time. However, my employer then relocated. I was thrilled to know that Panache was not even a block a way. Not too long after, I met a friend's cousin who I also befriended. I knew she did hair but never asked where she was located. Months after us being social, I asked where she worked. She advised. I then asked the name of her salon. When she told me, I nearly did a cartwheel!! I couldn't believe I've been talking to the person I wanted to do my hair all this time! I received a promotion and wanted my hair done before starting the new job. It was pretty last minute that I called Panache to make an appointment. I was excited to learn a client had canceled her appointment and I could take her slot. When I arrived to Panache, I was greeted with multiple 'hellos' from the owners to the shampoo team. The receptionist behind the counter at the time went to advise my stylist I was present. I observed Panache to not only be inviting, but professional, clean and have great ambiance. My stylist, Tia, greeted me with a beautiful smile and was excited to get down to business. She consulted with the shampoo associate with what to do regarding my hair. She then sat me in her chair. She asked if I would like water or wine. I chose my preference. Tia then blow dried me. When it was time to trim, she honestly reminded me of the movie 'Edward Scissorhands'. She went to work!! I have been going to Panache for years, since prior to their move to Market street. My Stylist is Attia, and I love her. What makes Attia great, is her attention to detail, and how she will be very honest about what will, and can work for you. She never goes against what I request, but always respectfully states other options. Which, have always turned out to be pretty accurate. I am stubborn, and do not like change, she knows this, and is very patient. After years of having hair past my waist, I have finally decided to let it go. She has only been telling me to do this for years. She advised because of my lifestyle, my sense of style, and my face shape, perhaps a shorter layered cut would do. I never listened, until last month. I should have done this years ago. Although I love, love , love my long hair.... it is true, the cut she suggested - helps out in many ways. I love the way I look. More importantly I love that there is someone who can be honest with me. I need that. Panache is a beautiful salon with great service, the receptionist is super friendly, and adorable.
