I usually never write reviews, but I had to write a review to share my experience at the front desk. I had frozen my account due to the pandemic but I decided to start working out again wearing a mask and taking precautions. So I went on the 15th of February to this planet fitness (being a black card member) and I was told that they were unable to unfreeze my account since my billing cycle begins on the 17th, but out of the kindness of her heart the person at the front desk let me work out (because working out is a way for me to vent and let out the stress of the day). Then on the 17th I approached the front desk about the same matter and I was assured that my account would be unfrozen and I continued to work out at this planet fitness for the next couple of days under the presumption that my account was already unfrozen, 1) because I wasn’t told not to come and 2) I am a paying customer and I plan on working out regularly. But today (the 23rd of February) I cycled my way, like I usually do (3 miles), to planet fitness and I was confronted by an employee at the front desk, who I am not going to name, who reiterated that my account was frozen so I asked her if she could unfreeze my account and she said she couldn’t do it and that my billing cycle begins on the 1st of March and that I shouldn’t be there, then she just stares me down. So then I ask her what am I to do, and she shrugs and then I ask her “am I supposed to go home?” And she says “you can do whatever you want but you’re not supposed to be here”. Then I find the first kind hearted employee who let me work out before and I pointed at her and said that she said I could work out, this employee then proceeded to badger her about why she had let me work out in the first place when my account was frozen. Then she said to me that I could workout today but that I’m not allowed in there after today till the 1st of March.
I understand that there are rules and procedures put in place for a reason and I will respect it and I definitely wouldn’t have put in this review if she would have said it to me like I was a paying customer. But her tone and the way she said it was unprofessional and straight up rude. During these difficult times when places like gyms are finding it hard to stay open the last thing an establishment would need is an employee being rude to its customers.
P.S. I did call and leave my contact details with one of the employees as the club manager was not available and I haven’t been contacted yet. I have also sent an...
Read moreI've been on the hunt for a new gym so I tried out this Planet Fitness on Market St. Firstly, parking is extremely difficult in this area. It took me about 15-20 minutes to find street parking near the building. Once I finally found parking, I went up to the building and apparently you can only enter through the door located on Market St so I had to go around to enter. As a first timer, finding the Planet Fitness was a little confusing. Inside the lobby, there are two sides which have different sets of elevators that only go up to certain floors which I did not know about at first. I only found out because I went into a wrong elevator that would only let you access floors 17 and above. So I had to go back down to the lobby and try the other elevators, this is where I saw a sign for an elevator "dedicated to Planet Fitness members" which was nice. Once I got to the Planet Fitness which was located on the second floor, I was greeted courteously by the desk staff. The young man who explained the layout and rules of the gym was kind.
The gym space itself is a little on the smaller side, but they have plenty of machines! I was honestly surprised with how many machines they were able to fit into the space. They pretty much had two of everything which was nice. Along with this, the machines looked like they were fairly new which was awesome. I liked how the weight machines counted how many reps you did and there was even a little clock timer for long each set took. Never seen that before!
Everyone in the gym was quiet and respectful of each other's space. I didn't feel watched or judged by anyone. It was a tad more crowded than I expected for it being the middle of the day on a weekday but I didn't have to wait for any machines so it was fine. The women's bathroom was extremely clean and nice too. The only two small things I noticed were that there was a tiny bit of trash on the floor and sometimes in the cup holders or on top of the weight machines. There were also two teenagers who were just sitting on their phones on the weight machines not doing anything. Whenever they did use some of the machines, they did not wipe them down afterwards.
Overall, besides the difficulty of parking and finding the Planet Fitness, the pros outweigh the cons here and I think I will most...
Read moreThis in one of my few reviews because I felt mandatory to let others know. So, that they don’t fall in bad gym service. There are plenty others with good and even better equipment. I was in Philly temporarily for about 1 month in September. First , they attracted me with seemingly good deal. I wish I knew they would charge me time and again in the future even if I cancel membership. I made them clear I wanted the gym for one month. The customer service agent said I could do that. After the time came for me to leave Philly, I called customer service and told him clearly to cancel my membership and all future charges. He confirmed that was done. But, after a few weeks, I was charged around 60$ . I called the customer service three/four times and told them to refund since I had my membership cancelled a long time ago. They refused to refund that amount. So, I lost that money in air. And yet again today, I am charged the same amount, months after I left Philly. I called the front desk staff and he indirectly refused to resolve my problem at the moment. What’s the use of customer service if you can’t resolve customer’s issue at the time customer calls? He says he doesn’t see transaction on his side while I can see in my bank statements. It’s clear that those two transactions, todays and months ago are from the same location. Yet, he refuses. This is clear fraud. So, I suggest you guys, the deal looks good only before you join them. Once you join, they suck your money out of your card...
