I never write reviews, but I really have to. I'm honestly very disappointed with my experience. With all of the good reviews, I was hoping for a decent haircut. I must have caught them on a bad day or something, because I had a terrible experience.
The lady I made the appointment with on the phone was very nice in person, but that was the end of a positive experience. The person who washed my hair was very physically rough and impolite. From the start, the hairdresser seemed very nonchalant and unengaged. However, I have had similar hairstylists before and they turned out to be amazing, so I didn't think much of it. The hairdresser agreed on an undercut, keeping the top long and the sides short. It felt less like he was cutting a style that fitted me specifically, and was just doing a routine was shaving the sides. When he was finished, it was completely uneven, I looked like a palm tree. I usually just roll with the haircut I am given, but I can't imagine anyone would want to walk out looking the way I did. It made me question the hairdresser's skills, because I think anyone would be able to tell that's not how you cut someone's hair. I asked him to just cut the sides, so that at least nothing was sticking out. I think he got annoyed with me, because before I could stop him, he had shaven off my hair on top too.
I was excited to try out a new hairstyle after growing my hair out a bit, but now I have to start all over. Still paid the full price and tipped. So the whole visit cost me $20 for the haircut and $15 for the hat I had to buy afterwards to cover up the mess.
I don't write this review out of spite, I just think it's worth hearing a different perspective. Based on other reviews, it seems Perfect Cut is really good at perms and other hairstyles. Personally, I will not be returning to this store. For a haircut, I would recommend Neway Hair Salon (224 N 9th St) just down the street. It's the same low price and no-frills type of experience, but at least the hairdresser there felt committed to his profession and chose a hairstyle that actually suited me.
Hope this review...
Read moreI’ve been to this salon at least four times and have worked with both barbers — Nick and Oscar. Nick was fine: polite, respectful, and actually listened to what I wanted.
Oscar, however, completely ruined my experience — twice. The first time wasn’t great, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. The last time, though, was the final straw. From the moment I greeted him, he was rude and dismissive. I said “good afternoon” and he didn’t even bother to reply. When I showed him a picture and clearly explained the style I wanted, he gave me a stern, unfriendly look and ignored everything I said.
Instead of following my instructions, he rushed through the haircut in about 10 minutes, used clippers when I specifically asked for scissors, and showed no interest or care in the result. The haircut turned out nothing like what I asked for, and I left disappointed and upset.
Anyway, Perfect Cut as a place has a negative, unfriendly vibe that feels unwelcoming overall. Even the lady at the front desk isn’t rude, but she makes no effort to be warm or professional, which is surprising for a service industry role. The one exception is the lady who washes hair — she has always been genuinely sweet and welcoming every time I’ve visited.
This was my personal experience with Oscar and this place. I’m basing it on what I got not once but twice, and I very much care about my haircut and basic customer service. For me, this was unprofessional, careless, and disrespectful. I will never go back to him again, and I strongly advise others to avoid him if you care about your haircut or how...

Anson is awesome! -- This is -the- most important statement in this review! :D (Please correct me if I spelled his name wrong).
He is friendly, accommodating, polite, and supremely talented. I walk in and show him a picture of what I want and immediately he knows what to do and takes it from there. I always leave looking -better- than the photo I show him. He adds an edgier and modern twist to it. When he's not there, I'll go to May who can follow the photo -precisely- (again, just by looking at it), but she will stay on the conservative side.
The ladies who wash my hair before AND after the wash always throw in a back, neck, head, and ear massage. They, too, are quite talented. The price for a men's haircut is $16, which is VERY reasonable considering the skill here. I then happily tip my barber and the ladies who wash my hair. Talent abounds in this place.
The only issue I have is with making appointments. Sometimes, it doesn't matter if I make an appointment because they either didn't write it down or don't honor the time we agreed on. About 15% of the time this happens. I can be waiting anywhere up to 45 minutes. I come back every month for a haircut and I'll continue to do...
