I've personally come to Ken's on and off for a last couple years. Let me start by saying I'm not by any means a picky client. I don't even really get my nails done on a regular basis and when I do- its a basic, regular polish mani. Unless a smudge is really bad or obvious- I don't usually have the nail tech correct. I'm a get in, get out kind of girl. Pedicures I do monthly and again-- I've frequented several places and they are all about the same to me. I've never been blown away by the services at Ken's, but I've also never been dissatisfied...until recently.
My 13 year old daughter went in with her friend (who is a regular here). I came to pick her up close to 2 hours after their appointment time and was shocked at just how terrible her nails looked! Her friend's looked cute- as you would expect. Cute designs, glossy, shiny- just like she got a fresh mani. My daughter's- appeared matte. The design- if you can even all it that looked like a blind toddler painted it on. Then I touched them and they were sticky and tacky. I asked my daughter to show me the inspiration pic she showed her tech and then she said they charged her $85 (before tip) for this!
I walked her back in there and demanded that her nails be redone. I spoke with the receptionist, who was very gracious and didn't put up any sort of disagreements with me and 30 min later, she left with a simple french with 1 little nail art.
I realize that not every tech is well versed in all of the nail art-- but it was the quality of the manicure itself that set me over the edge. It was so obvious that this was not a finished service. Sticky-tacky, horrible. If this were me or any other adult-- I want to believe they would not have allowed them to pay $100+ and walk out of that salon. I feel that they completely took advantage of my teen who is too timid to speak up for herself after receiving quite literally the WORST manicure I have ever seen. I too say I was fuming mad is an understatement.
I would like to also point out that in my 25+ years of getting manicures, I have never requested a redo. Never. The only reason I'm leaving 3 stars vs 1 is because I have received enough good services here in the past, so I want to chalk this up to a singular employee with bad skill.
I will not be returning here as a customer and certainly will not be sending my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been going to Kenās for about 7 years. Crowded at times, but I liked the no-frills approach and the fact that I could just walk in. Many things have changed over the years - no appointments on weekends, turning people away at the door, ā20 minute waitsā actually being 50 minutes, and inconsistent quality. I still kept going there and worked around their weird issues, mostly because I love my technician Harry (truly awesome and not at fault here). Today I showed up on time to the appointment I made yesterday morning, only to have the lady at the front desk tell me it would be ONE HOUR because he had a client and they were busy. Umm... excuse me??? I said I made an appointment, and she started asking when I called, who I talked to, on and on. I said, Are you questioning whether I made an appointment?? Then she says ok, it will be 30 minutes. LIE. Iāve seen them do this to people many times (see ā20 min waitā above) and he had just started a pedicure. Iāve been down that road so I said no and goodbye. So, after all these years I have to say goodbye to my awesome nail tech because the management is unprofessional. Iāll just go down the road to the MANY salons in this town. I hope you do the same, unless you want to roll the dice!!! If you do, ask for Harry, he is the best! Hope you have better luck...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been coming here for years and I will never come back. I made an appointment for a fill and pedicure today because I have my son the next 4 days and can't get my nails done. I was told after my pedicure I had to wait another hour to get the ombre fill because no one there could do ombre at the time. So I stated I would do gel over the top. Apparently they still couldn't do it and were then too busy. I made an appointment early in the day at 4:45 for pedicure and a fill. I literally just had to leave without getting my finger nails done because they couldn't accommodate my appointment. Does this even make sense? I've literally been going here for 10 years and I will never come back. Mind you the person who told me no one there can do ombre at the time is Cindy who has done my own ombre just a few weeks back. I'm seriously loving. This was my last day to get...
