Lady nails and spa — Local services in Phoenix

EDIT* they responded to this review immediately saying we agreed to the price before the service. I guess they are blatant liars. They never once told us the $170 price and are doubling down on it to this day. Disgusting business. SCAMMERS. Beware.

I’m disappointed to have to be writing this review because our nails came out beautifully. My grandmother and I wanted to try a new spot since our previous nail salon was a little pricy. I did some research and landed on Lady Nails and spa after looking at their services and prices.

According to their website, a gel fill is $38 and a full set is $48. I called to make the appointment and confirmed these prices with them.

We get our nails done, my grandmother got a full gel set while I only got a gel fill. I will note I got the “cat-eye” polish which was labeled as a $10 extra charge.

So, really our total should have been somewhere around $90-$100 before tip.

I was still getting my nails finished up while my grandmother went up to the register and paid. I remember my nail lady and hers discussing the price of my service + hers, unfortunately in a language I don’t speak so I didn’t catch the total. Since I discussed the price when booking the appointment I didn’t expect any surprises.

However later when my grandmother looked at her bank statement she was charged $170 before tip. There’s no world where I would pay $170 for a gel fill and a full set. We got gel polish - no nail art, nothing special aside from the cat-eye polish for me.

My grandmother is older and clearly didn’t see the price (there was no register or screen for it to display for her) and it was never verbally communicated to her either. I didn’t hear a word between the two of them when she was paying so I know this for sure.

I’m disturbed and disappointed they up-charged my elderly grandmother without ANY communication of the total cost of the services. We came here in hopes to save a little money but ended up sending almost double what we normally would.

Again, I want to reiterate that both of our nail ladies did great work and we were so excited with our nails, and that we found a new more affordable spot. We couldn’t have been any more wrong in that regard.

I would be very careful coming here and if you do, confirm with them more than once about the price. Pay attention to what you’re paying, I learned a big lesson at this nail salon and will be a lot more careful wherever I go next.

But it DEFINITELY won’t be here. $170????

Side note, I called them back when my grandmother realized the price she accidentally paid; and they tried to B.S. me and say my grandmothers service was $75 because her nails were long (I assure you, they were not long at all. In fact she asks for them to be short). How was my service (a GELL FILL) expensive enough to make the total $170 then? They provided me zero answers and seemed to be making stuff up as the conversation went. We weren’t offered any solution, no refund, no free service, not even an apology for the clear miscommunication (and in my opinion, SCAM).

Their attitudes regarding all of this is enough for me to highly discourage you from coming here. There is way better out there that will not manipulate extra...

The last photo I shared is the inspiration picture and as you can see, it was spot on. I usually refrain from writing reviews but I don't get my nails done all the time so it is a bit of a splurge once in awhile. This set costed $70 which i find very reasonable considering all the fine details and little gems added to the nails. I regret not asking for a name but my nail tech was absolutely adorable and took the time and precise detailing to make these nails perfect for me. I'm not a long nail type of person so getting the right short type of nails is really important to me and she did not question it nor was she judgemental. I would say this took about an hour which is crazy fast. After check out i was not pressured to book a future appointment, just "have a good day and hopefully we see you again soon" which i personally appreciated knowing i might not want another appointment as soon as the average nail-goer (like i said, this is an occasional splurge). Nor was i pressured to write a good review or any review for that matter. I know nail places that are actually good are hard to come by but I believe this one was worth the visit. Vibes were great and fast service...

Went to get a pedicure today and the older lady did my nails ! It was horrible honestly my pedicure looked like I did it at home with regular nail polish !!when I left I had polish on my skin around my nails. She cut my nails crooked and when she put the scrub on my legs she literally didn’t even scrub it at all what’s so ever she just rinsed it off then she use the pumis bar and didn’t even take one minute on both feet then she kept hitting my nails on the uv light🤦🏻‍♀️ I picked a white glittery gel polish and asked me if it was good I could still see my real nail so I told her to use a white gel with bigger glitter she got mad and started speaking her language so I wouldn’t understand I did tip her just because my friend payed for our pedicures but honestly she didn’t deserve it at all if you guys go there I don’t recommend her she will waste you’re money !! Never experienced something like this never going back ! I felt like she hated me or something that’s how poorly her...
