Never in my life have I felt discriminated by a place of business due to my race and age until today. I tried to handle it the right way and contact the owner of LINA Home Furnishings in Phoenix, AZ whose name is Kent, but he surely seemed to not care or as if this has happened before. I know that it has happened before because after my experience I started to look into the reviews and saw where about 6 months ago a woman stated that she experienced the same thing by the same woman!!
I entered the store and was halfway greeted by a female saleswoman whose name I do not recall, but fit the exact description of the woman that was described in the review from about 6 months ago. I was looking at sectionals and my daughter and her boyfriend were checking out the recliner chairs that massage. The sales lady came up to me and said, “Those kids should not be in those chairs because I’m certain that you all do not have $4,000 to purchase one.” At first I was shocked at her response, but if you know me, you know I replied. I told her, “First of all those are not kids, they are 18 which by law makes them an adult and furthermore how dare you assume that I do not have $4,000 to purchase that chair or anything else in this store. Is it because of my race and that I look young that you just assume that I do not? Because for your information I can purchase whatever it is that I want in here and you missed out on a great customer because I was looking to purchase a lot of times but I will not spend a dime in here.” As I was continuing to talk to her and let her know how much her comment was offensive and very unprofessional she walks off as if she did not want to hear what I had to say. I then told everyone I was with that we are leaving and no longer looking around in the store.
I called the store and talked to Kent who is the owner and he gave what was not an apology and tried to take up for him employee and say “well maybe she has something going on at home” I told him, “That is not an excuse at all. We all deal with something and I’ve worked many times while dealing with grief, death, bad days, being overwhelmed, and etc. but no one would ever know, especially a customer or client, because I know how to remain professional at all times and furthermore I would never judge anyone by their race, age, color of their...
Read moreI ordered a custom couch with a $500 extra charge for down cushions and it has been the worst experience. Not only did the couch take longer than the 4-5 weeks they promised, but the couch arrived with the stock cushions while I had to wait 5 extra weeks for the down cushions. My salesperson was not proactive, I had to follow up almost weekly for updates and to check-in on the status. I was given the runaround with excuses and reasoning for delays. When the down cushions came in, I drove to the store to pick them up because I didn't want wait any longer for them to schedule a delivery. ALSO - I had to return the stock cushions that I had been sitting on (I have a dog too!) in order to get the down cushions. Weird, what were they going to do with them?
The down cushions are absolutely terrible: they are lumpy, FIRM as all get out and way overstuffed. They look like the seams could burst - there is 5 inches of foam inside these "down cushions". The feathers are also poking out of the cushions at an alarming rate.... my house looks like I pluck chickens and I have to vacuum every day! They do not match the examples of down cushions I tried out in the show room. My sales lady said the manufacturer would order smaller foam to get the cushions where I expected them to be. When I asked how much smaller the foam would be the response I got was "the manufacturer knows what they are doing. he said they'll be here in a week" Yeah, sure... Fast forward 8 weeks, to today: the smaller foam has still not come in but they finally let me take back the stock cushions I had to originally return while I wait. I have not heard from my sales lady in a over month so I don't think I'll ever get the right down cushions.
Don’t order furniture from this company… you’ll end up like me: with a headache and out thousands of dollars for a lackluster couch, not to mention the extra money I paid for the down cushions. I was optimistic that this would be a great process but clearly I was wrong. Maybe if you buy something stocked and off the floor it will be a better process but I wouldn't...
Read moreMy husband and I built a beautiful new home in June of 2018! We knew we wanted to change the style of our home from “Traditional” to “Transitional” and would need several new pieces of furniture to do so (one being a new table and chairs for our kitchen nook and the second being two new leather couches for our rather large great room). We were driving around from furniture store to furniture store and could not find one piece of furniture that we liked. We came across Lina’s Home Furnishings (the store at 59th Avenue & Bell Road) and decided to check it out... oh my goodness, are we glad we did!!! We were greeted by a very kind, friendly gentleman named ERIC MONROY... he was polite, professional, knowledgeable and extremely helpful (but not in a pushy way). I showed him a picture of a couch that I had liked online and he was actually able to find a couch in one of his catalogs that I liked just as much (actually, MORE). We have since been back to buy a beautiful, high quality table and chairs set and are currently in the process of buying two gorgeous custom leather couches!!! Eric has been an absolute pleasure to work with... he is beyond thorough and he uses every possible tool available to him, in an effort to ensure that we, as customers, know all there is to know about the furniture we have chosen. The Manager, Atticus, is very professional and helpful, as well! This store is A++++ in our book! We love the store, we love the staff and we love the inventory!! If you want to buy beautiful, quality furniture at a reasonable price AND have an enjoyable buying experience in the process... Lina’s at 59th Avenue & Bell is the store for you! You will be beyond pleased, in every way, just as my husband and I have been!! Ask for Eric Monroy... you won’t be disappointed! He will find you what you are looking for!!! My husband and I plan to furnish the empty rooms in our home with furniture from Lina’s (we wouldn’t go...
