Z Z's Produce — Local services in Pittsfield Charter Township

I've experienced months of disappointing (and over priced) produce since moving to Ann Arbor; so I am very happy to have found this place! It's small and run down, but you will not find this unique selection of produce anywhere else, especially for the price. An assortment of exotic fruits, and some dry goods from around the world. I paid less than $2/lb for items like Quince, Asian Pears, a variety of melons, peppers, fresh herbs, dried beans, etc... left with 4 big shopping bags full for under $30. They are about to grow in soil, that has not been properly tested for contamination. I’ve lived in the property next door for years and have even grown produce myself, back there. But we stopped when we started noticing the land might be polluted because of the golfing range that sits behind it. Beware you can sick from eating produce grown on contaminated soil. I have been shopping at ZZ's for about 10 years. I always appreciated ZZ's for the price and variety of produce I could ONLY find. In the past the store, aesthetically was not the best, but I never really minded/noticed because ZZ's always had what I needed.
