The employees here are iffy. Today, when I was making a return, the universe was shining upon me with good luck, and I had a great employee. Cashier Dylan was super friendly, very capable, and the process went very quickly. I couldn't be happier with the transaction. However, unfortunately that is the exception to my experiences here. My last visit I knew exactly what I needed, the price, the website indicated that there were a bunch in stock. I just did not know the location. The website said free delivery (price was $124+ tax). I figured bc it was over $100 the delivery was free. I have a minivan, which lacks trunk space, with car seats, the folding down option is a big inconvenience. It would be much easier for delivery, than to hurt myself or break anything. The 2 employees "Greeting" me upon walking in, assured me that the delivery would NOT be free, the website was wrong, it would cost $75 additional dollars! Naturally my cell phone chose the time it took to walk inside to die, at that point I should have just walked out. But I asked if one could help me put it in my van, and he said it wouldn't be an issue, and then I asked where they were please. He directed me to the total opposite end of the store. After hiking back to civilization, finding an employee that was nice enough to direct me to the real location, and then get there, I dragged the bin, and pushed the cart I had to the register. It was a struggle, while many employees just watched me struggle with the behemoth, I did have a nice fellow shopper ask if I needed any help. The employee that said he would help did not look so happy that I found him and called him out on his scenic route to get to where I needed, and that I intended to hold him to that promise to load the trash bin into my van. I was also running late to get my daughter from Pre-K, and it's at least 20 mins to get to her school, after his stunt, which upset me more. He struggled to load this titanic into my van, maybe the website was wrong, maybe it wasn't. But he wouldn't even ask anyone else, like customer service to check. He didn't even know the price of what I was purchasing. I don't enjoy it when employee(s) just assume a customer is a pushover, and will 1) pay the extra money; or 2) just take their word and not check elsewhere. I try not to shop there at all, I go to Buster's Ace Hardware. They're so much better, no shady employees, they take the time to explain something if you need it, and not talk down to you if you're female. Home Depot is exactly the opposite of this, they can learn a valuable lesson from this family owned...
Read moreAs far as Home Depot's go this one isn't stocked well; However in its defense it does have the largest selection of any other comparable stores in the area. This particular store would have rated a 2 star score if it weren't for the helpful and full of character characters working in it. Conversely, it would have rated 4 stars, had it not been for a few severely deficient employees who's lacking of tool and hardware knowledge combined with enough of their numbers to ensure 1 or 2 at least will always be on duty when you visit. Let me put it this way, I once went shopping for a spring rake... Your basic rake, and a replacement handle for a garden rake and the employee I was asking for direction to them informed me they didn't have any "spring rakes" as well as telling me they had no idea what that was nor knew the difference between the two. I also got confused looks when using the terms, grass rake and even leaf rake.... It's a rake... There's only a few main kinds... You work in a hardware store... I don't expect every employee to know every little thing about al the stock in a hardware store... But the basics.. Who works at a hardware store... The biggest chain in the area and hasn't handled a rake or a shovel... Or even a hammer. Over all, the good staff makes up for it and they have a few people there with real experienced real life helpful knowledge. The store is at least kept clean and fairly orderly and the lines have never kept me...
Read moreDon’t go to Home Depot in Pittsfield 20 minutes before they close. You’ll hear an announcement over the intercom that they are closing in 15 minutes, however you will hear another announcement that they are having their employee meeting in the front of the store at the same time. So if you have a question there is no one around to help, all the employees are up front near the registers in a pile. There are 3 registers open but only 1 employee available, but rude as hell because she is unable to attend the meeting. And she is rushing you out so she can catch the tail end of a meeting that does no good cuz the customer service at this place is horrible! I used to love shopping here when it first opened, but now I avoid it at all cost. But because it’s the only place around I don’t have a choice at that time of night. I wish someone who cared would step up and take control of the place. I am tired of rude employees. There are a handful of good employees don’t get me wrong but it’s very rare. And when we do get one amazing employee we go back months later and they are no longer working there or not on that day so our shopping experience sucks yet once again. I suggest you travel out of town, have someone help you who knows what they are talking about and not just telling you info from the seat of their pants from watching videos. Like I said there is a handful of amazing employees, I’d say 10 out of 80 employees isn’t very good. This Home...
