What I thought would be a quick trip to get my new Rolex sized, instead turned out to be whole waste of my Friday. I first called John Friday morning to see if he was open, since Thursday was thanksgiving's. I asked John if he had time to size my Rolex. He first hesitated then said that he's busy but then said to come in anyways. That should had been my red flag but with his good reviews I went against my wife's intuition. When I arrived, I gave him my watch and he quickly removed one the links. The watch felt good to me but John wasn't happy with the way it looked on me and suggested removing one more link to better fit me. While he was removing the link I asked him if he could also adjust the EasyLink to the watch band. That's where the problems began. While adjusting the EasyLink, the band came apart, 2 very small glide locks came off the Easylink. He tried and tried to put it together again but he couldn't. He then went to another room and I guess he wanted to be left alone and concentrate on what he was doing. About 15 minutes or so he asked if I can leave his store and go for some coffee and come back. I told him that wasn't going to happened nor did I feel comfortable leaving his store without my Rolex. I reminded him, I was just there to get my watch sized and I didn't understand why it was becoming so complicated for him to do. He very rudely said, "dude, "it's a Rolex" it's not an easy watch to size. He made it seem somehow that his mistakes was the watches fault. He kept insisting for me to leave the store, about 5 times. At this point I demanded my watch back! I was very firm with him. I understand that he didn't want me to leave his store not happy, but he was being very rude about it. At this point me and my wife didn't feel comfortable with his services anymore and again I demanded my watch to be returned at once!
We then decided to go to Heller Jewelry's in San Ramon. They are a AD of Rolex watches. When I showed them how I left John's store they couldn't believe what he had done to watch. They said it usually takes 10 minutes or less to size a Rolex watch and the Easylink should have never been pulled about they way it was. Since John removed the glide locks it most likely will cost me more then just getting my watch sized from them. I had to leave my watch with them so that their repair guy can fix it on Tuesday. My watch had to be put on queue. I should had come to Heller Jewelry’s to begin with but live and...
Read moreMy first meeting with George Cuneyt at his business simply called GOLDSMITH, was when I was looking for someone to help me repair my Seth Thomas clock. Somehow I thought if he does watches, he might do clocks. George does not officially repair clocks, but he did happen to have the tiny mechanism piece that put my large wonderful kitchen clock back in order. And, it returned to working in its same friendly, smooth, and very capable manner, just as George does his work.
A few days ago, and two years since my clock visit, I returned once again to George with a bracelet that I needed made smaller. Once again, as I waited for a brief time seeing how professionally and capably George helped others with jewelry design and creation, and family heirloom repair, I walked out with the desired result for my bracelet, both visits having paid a very reasonable price.
I do highly recommend George for your jewelry and related creations, pre-made selection purchaces,...
Read moreI took my signature ring into George to be reshaped and polished, he did an exceptional job. What I found most impressive was his attention to the intricate details of doing the work on my ring. He was honest and forthright businessman, as well as a exceptionally creative artisan. In addition to repairing jewelry, George also makes jewelry and has in his shop a showcase of the work his has done aligned to the craftsmanship one would see in a Tiffany's. In fact, Tiffany's would benefit if they commissioned him as one of their jewelers. I will go back...
