Misleading claims! I came in here to have links taken out of a Bulova men's watch and to have some watch batteries replaced (something I've done here numerous times before). When the sales associated greeted me upon entering the store, I told her that I have a watch that needs some links taken out. She said we can't help you with that unless you bought the item here because it's "company policy". Perplexed by this, I told her that I've been coming here before and had links taken out before. She said the policy just changed.
While heading off to find another jewelry store to help me. I went to the Kay Jewelers website and asked their 'Chat with an Expert' with Kay Jewelers removes links from men's watches and replaces watch batteries. The expert said yes!. I then explained what had just happened in one of their locations and the expert said there is no such policy.
I called the store back and the associate said this was the policy that just took effect 4 months ago. She then offered to print the policy for me to read if I came back. She then asked what kind of watch I had and when I said it was a Bulova watch, she said I can bring it in. If the policy is that you don't work on items not bought at Kay, and then sent me away, why not are you saying I can come back to have it fixed? I told her that this is not a clear policy if they keep flip flopping. She said Kay's isn't allowed to work on watches not purchased at the store because they could break them. Are these people not professionals that they might break a watch by just removing links?
The topper is then when I got home, I received a promotional email from Kay's Vault Rewards program saying they can fix and adjust jewelry "not originally purchased from us". I won't be returning to Kay...
Read moreA few days ago my husband took our jewelry for its 6 month clean/inspection at another location (Westmoreland Mall in Greensburg). My jewelry was very desperate for a good cleaning. Once he had gotten home, I noticed that none of my pieces were shiny and still filled with crud. I decided I will take them to this location (Southland in Pleasant Hills) to have it done right! I got there at 11 am when they opened with my 1 yr old son. I was immediately greeted by an associate outside while she was smoking a cigarette. She proceeded to puff and speak with me while I held the door open and she followed me. She never washed her hands and immediately asked how I could be helped today. I presented my jewelry and expressed my concerns. She examined just my wedding band and said, "I'll see what I can do but this might need sent out for a deep cleaning." I was fine with whatever needed to be done! I told her I just wanted it cleaned and shiny again. She spent about 5 minutes cleaning it and handed it back to me. It looked better, but far from where it could be. Not to mention, she still didn't clean any other pieces (2 other rings and a pair of earrings to be exact). She mentioned I should "just buy a clean kit and do it myself." Fine. I bought the $20 kit. The final straw was when she told me, "If you took as good care of your jewelry as you do your Louis purse, this wouldn't be an issue." Excuse me? I am a stay at home mother of 2. I'm constantly digging in dirt, cooking, cleaning, we had just been on an extended vacation, but regardless.. Never pass judgement on someone else. Especially when you have no idea what another person is going through in their life. Moral of the story, if you do not care for hygiene, respect or proper service, this is the...
Read moreI walked into the store with my fiancé to get my ring sized and the woman who said was the manager greeted me and said she could not wait on me because of my perfume which she knew the exact perfume. She made such a scene acting like I smelled like a skunk and said she would grab someone else to wait on us. I’ve wore my perfume for 10years so luckily for me I was not insecure about this. It’s a very subtle perfume and if it bothered her nose she should of said “someone would be right with you” instead of embarrassing me in the store. She was a brunette with glasses. I did not catch her name. Once another associate who was amazing waited on us, I could literally hear her talking about other customers across the room. Terrible person. I would never go to this location. Luckily I was only getting...
