Very disappointed on our visit to this store. My taller then average boyfriend needed a nice button down shirt to complete a suit so we were referred to this store. The person working that day (Octavio) offered to help and measure him to find the right fit. However he made several remarks about my boyfriends size saying he had âfreakishly long armsâ and was making face expressions about how tall he is. In the end he was not helpful so we decided to look around the store ourselves instead of dealing with his comments about how he was just gonna have to deal with a shirt that was not quite right because of how freakishly big he is. We had a hard time paying such high price for something that was going to look huge here and there to compromise with his broad shoulders and length. So we find something that we think itâs gonna work and my boyfriend goes to try it. Octavio had told us that shirt was too small for him.. While heâs in the dressing room I roamed the store to find him other items to complete his outfit, I asked about shoes and if size 16 was the biggest size they carry and said my boyfriend needs a 17. There was a line of patrons waiting to be checked out and Octavio made an exaggerated face when I said we needed a size 17 âyou have a freak there!â (Proceeds to laugh and make more faces, prompting the other costumers to also make remarks. Iâm glad my boyfriend was in the dressing room when this happened as he was already aggravated at the previous remarks about âhis sizeâ. He is 6â9â, wears a size 17 shoe, his shoulders need a 2XL, his arm and torso length are like 3xl but his torso width is an XL. So he is long broad shoulders but not âfatâ or overweight at all. Obviously not an average size guy and more of an athletic tall build. but he was made feel so uncomfortable at a store whoâs market is focused on âbig guysâ I felt so bad for him as he to begin with has an imposible time finding anything that fits because he is not just âbigâ or âtallâ and was ridiculed and body shamed. Your store really needs to train your employees and remind them who their clothes are marketed for. Never before has he had that kind of treatment at âaverage sized people...
Read moreSince there's a lot of misinformation going around in this location's Google reviews, I'll offer some facts. For one, they're still open and in the outlet mall - they simply moved to another location in the outlet mall. In addition to that and regarding their negative reviews I offer this: This is not Wal-Mart, they sell recognizable and relatively high value brands in big and tall sizes, which is somewhat rare to find. You should expect the same prices as you would from any other department store when it comes to major brands, if you can not afford those brands in a typical department store then you will not be able to afford them here. Previous reviews suggested that they were expensive and that an employee made a jocular suggestion to a customer to go to a second hand store. Although that may seem to lack tact/sensitivity, it was sound advice to a customer that was verbose about not being able to afford their prices, but could probably be communicated better. That is not DXL's fault nor are they a whipping post for people under these circumstances. As far as the reviews for pushy salesmanship goes, this pushiness is the same sales activity you would find from a department store on Michigan Ave in Chicago - they're not pushing their sales tactics on you, they are making sure that you are taken care of and they are not working for free. If you are uncomfortable with that all you have to do is tell them that you'll reach out to them when you need their assistance.
I came in on a Saturday with an interview on Monday. I was given very personal attention from Ingrid and had exactly what I needed in about 20 minutes, to be quite frank I'm surprised at the level of service I received and they have earned repeat...
Read moreWe went to this store last week after having been to the "flagship" store in Chicago a few days earlier. We had bought suits, shirts and ties from the Chicago store and are members of their loyalty program (spent dollars equals points which converts into dollars as a credit to use on future purchases). As others have mentioned, they offer designer brands for bigger and taller men. Having found a couple of additional dress and casual shirts at a discount from the same brands purchased in Chicago (recognizing it is "hit and miss" as to what will be sent to the outlet for clearance), Ingrid (the staff person helping us) put my phone number in their system and noted that I had "a lot of points" which had not been converted into a credit for use against my purchases at her location. She insisted on spending well over 10 minutes on the phone with their rewards program to eventually get the points converted for immediate use (as opposed to another 48-72 hours before they would be accessible). As we were travelling from Canada, it would have been another several moths before we were at another store where we might use these points. We appreciated the effort and the fantastic service from Ingrid who went above and beyond. This is what customer service should like at...
