Roof One — Local services in Pontiac

Trying to find someone to do my roof was easier said then done. Then I was referred to roof one thru a family friend and thought I finally found a great company I could also refer to other people. It started with getting a quality free estimate filled with lots of info and options. I thought it was great as I wanted the roof and gutters. Got a few free pieces of wood thrown in free and was told if there was a major issue they would let me know. The guy that came out also told me I could pay him after the job was completed and he would be by the inspect the job. Feels great right? Well two weeks later the materials are in and in two days I'm on my way home from work to what was a completed roof. First off I work and instead of gas compressors they have electric so I had to come home at lunch to get their cords back (this isn't a big deal to me). But then the roofer said I needed to pay him right there even after I explained how the original guy said I could pay him(again this was disappointing) then to make matters worse they "threw in" 5 sheets but told me I owed for 28 more!!! Where was the call to explain the issue. Now the price shoots up. Also they tried collecting for the gutters even though they weren't done yet. After not paying for that portion they replaced them the next day but didn't even pull the old hardware off the house. I got a call about payment and told them I wanted to speak to the guy that came out but he was at a conference. Not sure how long the conference normally is but I still have not heard from him after s few weeks. At this point I would say you may as well go with the higher quote and stay away from them as the price creeped up another 2000 after install. Hopefully the conference ends soon so we can see what they have to say about this. Like I said seemed great at first but once they had the contract it was like dealing with a completely different company. If I could give 0 stars I would...

I had my roof replaced a few months back by Roof one and yes, I do regret it. Mark, the salesman was courteous and answered all my questions and I thought I picked a good company. Well the problems started the day they were supposed to drop off all the materials on a Monday and begin work on Tuesday. At 6:00 a.m. yes a.m. their crew showed up on Monday and started their pounding and tearing off the old roof scaring my sleeping family. Unfortunately I was at work and could not stop them. When I got home I talked to the crew leader and asked what was going on he just said they start their day early. I told him it was not acceptable to be be starting that early, waking my family and that there are noise ordinances for this reason. I called my sales guy to let him know and to make sure it does not happen again. He apologized and just stated that this crew was a new one and they were still seeing if they were going to work out. Next day, 6am pounding started again. Called the office, no one got back to me till later that day when they had finished. Their clean up was a joke and they never even said they were don, they just took off.

I looked over the roof and found some problems. Called the office and was told someone would get in contact with me. No one ever did so I had to call again. Finally made an appointment for someone to inspect the problems but no one showed up. After someone did finally come out, I had to wait a while for find out what was going to be done. Another appt was made in which I was led to believe where the repairs were to be done, but no, this was to go over all the problems again! It was a waste of my time, again. Finally got repairs done and NO, I would not recommend...

We had several bids before we had the work done, and the initial bid from Roof One was right in the middle with the other bids. However, that's where the similarity ended. Every step of the way they were in contact with us, and addressed every concern along the way. Every project has unexpected twists and ours was no exception. Each time I braced for a big blow, only to discover the change was both necessary AND reasonable. Nobody was out to pad the contract with huge expenses. When it was all done we had a new roof with a lifetime transferable warranty, new facia, new gutters and trim, and a brand new outlook on our loving home. When we found out they do windows and siding too, we promised we'd be back! This is no fly-by-night or up-and-coming roofer trying to get rich off your backside. They answered every question, took every step, and corrected every single problem. Different people follow up to make sure the process is smooth and is done professionally and correctly. Multiple eyes and ears on the project at different times. The roof looks amazing, and we would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company to anyone who asks. SO glad we used them.
