I'm from Sacramento and had returned from visiting Vancouver Island and through one of the sponsors "Black Ball Ferry" found out about the festival. We had a great time. Organizer have it down showed up and got feed. Didn't have any trouble find a place to sit and eat. This is the first Dungeness crab for my season. You also get corn on the cob, and slaw. The live music was wonderful, several stages. Now mind you the going price for a 2 lb. crab was $15-$18 lb. (uncooked) the price for the festival crab is a little higher. When the season begins here in Sacramento it can run around $5-$10 lb from the local Asian market. But it made for a good time and did not go home hungry. I would suggest you to the organizer state the closing time for the festival booth. We schedule our meal for dinner, ate then walked out thinking we would have time to visit the booths but they were closed. Lost business for the vendor. Had money in my pocket to burn! That's OK went to the saved money to go to the Casino. The other thing is the butter went hard. I crack all of my crab first then eat. With it being cooler at dinner the the butter went hard. For me that's OK I eat Asian style (steam rice with fish sauce cilantro,...
Read moreNot as good as in previous years. I found that everything was just a few more (American) dollars than last year. For example, cheap American red wine was offered at $9 per 5 oz glass this year, up a dollar from last. For us Canadians, that's $12 to drink out of a plastic Dixie cup. Then the food... I always go straight for the Crab Poutine so this year was no different. Bad idea. Honestly, if I was blindfolded while being served Crab Poutine, I couldn't have told you what I was eating. I fished around the dish for traces of crab but couldn't tell the crab apart from finely shredded Parmesan cheese on top. Although I readily receive a few grams more when I complained, it left me wondering why they were so quick to do that. Still, 3-stars for having a well-run event and I might return next year to see if...
Read moreWe were very excited to be there to join the festival, and it was our first time, but very disappointed food , corn on the cob was so hard can’t even bite it, and taste like it was not cooked, and crab taste was ok, but very small portion. Compare to money that we’ve paid. To me it was not worth at all, perhaps set up more table and chairs would be more comfortable to eating, and more enjoyable. Not enough staffs go around clean the table and direct distances, especially what we facing these days. We feel very unsafe and...
