Let me start with the positive as I felt very appreciative of our server. He did a wonderful job at making sure we were comfortable and had our food at the right time so we didn't feel rushed.

Now for the not so positive. The food. I did not find a moment of eating to be a memorable moment. We ordered the chowder with a bread bowl, for being the best chowder in clallum county it was very underwhelming. The breadbowl was lovely as basic bread bowls go and the chowder was very basic as well, it lack joy. The flavors presented with the chowder was something I could have found in a old country buffet or at a large chain restaurant. Nothing to special but it at least hit the spot a little bit.

Next dish was the dungeness crab cocktail. The sauce which is not house made but merely a stor brand as it tasted incredibly similar to a brand I get at safeway was just that, it was a leg and a half or maybe possibly 2 leggs of dungeness crab meat mixed in a bowl loaded with cocktail sauce and diced celery. Very forgettable especially because the crab meat was not fresh prepared but merely thawed out meat added to sauce and celery slices.

As for my main dish. I ordered the cod fish and chips. As appetizers go I was hoping the main dish would push a striking difference but I was sorely mistaken. The cod was overcooked and instead of a nice delicate flaked fish it turned to mush in my mouth with a flavor as though it had been sitting a while waiting for some one wanting to eventually order it. Over salted and over battered mixed with overcooked left me feeling overwhelmed by confusion when eating in a establishment that was told to be a seafood bassed restaurant.

For best any thing in the county I do not feel that those accomplishments were met today. The server was wonderful and the view was beautiful but the food left a bland note on...

Upon being greated by the hostess who was far from friendly we were told that parties of 8 were subject to a 20% gratuity, no problem! We had a party of 8, 4 adults and 4 youths.

The service was spotty at best with the waitress/ bartender skipping guests at the table while ordering. She attempted to leave to place our order before my wife had got the chance to order her meal.

When the food was delivered every thing looked pretty good. My sandwich was delicious actually. After a couple bites into my 12 year old sons meal he informed me that his chicken seemed weird inside. We turned his plate to discover that his teriyaki chicken breast was more raw then the waiting staff.

This is where things got ugly. I get that things happen but at this point the staff essentially refused to do anything for us. Instantly stonewalled. I asked for the meal to be comped and it was, but nobody ever asked if my son would like to order something else nor did anyone come to ask if we wanted anymore drinks or how the rest of the meals were.

At this point I had to find a waitress to try and pay to get out of this place. She first printed out a tab that had a $17 dollar service charge on it. I figured for the party of 8 that they had reduced the %20 gratuity due to the obvious lack of service and salmonella chicken. Thinking this was fair, I placed that amount of cash on my ticket and began to walk away when I was then approached by the hostess that seated us stating that they had rang our total up incorrectly and that I'd owed more money, this time giving me a ticket with a $50 service charge.

I do not recommend this place. I think that the locals in the bar are enough to keep this place alive so they pay little attention to the guests since most of them are one and...

Last time I went there My burger was so dry and hard that I couldnt even eat it. When I told the on shift manager with brown hair and a little brown thin mustache he took my plate and didnt return until all of my family had already eaten theyre food. Well tried to anyways. My son got the fish and chips and the fish tasted like it was old and had a bad fishy taste. My daughter got the clam chowder that tasted burnt. When I went to use the mens bathroom it smelled and looked like someone had peed in the corner and no one had cleaned it up in a couple days and had paper towels all over the bathroom floor. A total mess. When the manager was told about it they brushed it off and said someone will clean it but never did. My soda sat on the edge of the table and didnt get refilled once so I sat with nothing to drink since they didnt bring out water. And then when I go on to make a review about how my service and food was the management attacks my comment. Yeah I or my friends and family will never return to this location which sucks because I grew up going to downriggers in fact I started as a dishwasher at downriggers but that was when they had good management like Chris. And now they discriminate against those with Medical exemptions. Such a shame. And then after I left this review they had their friends go onto my business page and leave false reviews about my work even though I've never worked in port angeles. Never will i spend money here and none of my family that lives in PA week eat there either because of how...

Everything about our experience here at Downriggers was mediocre. Once we finally found the entrance (after circling the exterior of the wharf before realizing it was on the second floor), we were seated immediately, but I wasn't particularly enamored with the interior décor as we rounded the corner: it looked like a slightly fancier Skippers. Our server was decent enough, and the food came out in expected time, but nothing really blew us away: the fried calamari was alright (the aioli that accompanied it was the best part), my garlic patty melt was surprisingly bland (requiring a liberal application of steak sauce), and my wife's clam chowder and side salad were serviceable, but nothing to write home about. I really wanted to like it more here, as my wife and I quickly became enamored with the Port Angeles Wharf itself, as well as the surrounding area, and we'd like to come back to explore it more in depth, sometime in the future. Sadly though, I doubt we'll be rushing back to Downriggers upon our return.

Downriggers is the best seafood restaurant my Father or I have ever been to. We’re from Maryland, accustomed to high quality seafood and used to crab shacks, seafood stands etc. in a coastal area and we’re surprised that port angeles didn’t seem to have that strong “seafood culture” we have on the east coast. However, we felt at home as soon as we walked into Downriggers and the food blew us away. Crab Louie with homemade thousand island to start- the Dungeness crab was sweet and flavorful. Then had Clam Chowder that was more delicious than any we’d had in New England. Followed up with Fish and Chips with wonderful fresh, Flaky Cod and Homemade Tartar sauce that was so good you could eat it with a spoon. Easily the best seafood meal we’d ever had (as good as a blue crab feast). The atmosphere was comfortable, service was great and view was beautiful. Loved watching the Ferry. Well worth a 2,500 mile trek- we will be back and budgeting for a nightly dinner at Downriggers.
