I currently hold a degree in Computer Networking. I worked for a big electric company for a while as their only I.T. consultant/worker. I am very well trained and been in the field for quite some time.
I called Best Buy to find a 550 Watt power supply. When I did so, the young woman informed me she had no idea what I was talking about, her exact words were, "What's a power supply?". She then transferred me to a 'specialist' who informed me that Power supplies did not exceed 350 Watts. I demanded to be transferred to a manager. Once I spoke with the manager they finally got around to looking for it and told me they had just one left in stock and it was $350 dollars. There was no way this cost 350, so I drove out to Orange to PNX Computers and they found one for me, of a better quality, for $65 dollars and gave me a extra set of cables for free and offered to install it for free and I got a 2 year warranty at no extra charge.
I am also an avid gamer. I collect certain game franchises as a hobby. When I heard Fallout: New Vegas was to be released I was so excited because that is one of the franchises I collect. I get one collectors edition a year as my gift to me so when I heard about this I was needless to say super excited. Depending on where you purchase the game you get extra in-game items so I wanted the Best Buy set and I wanted a collectors edition. I went to Best Buy and put my money down to purchase a collectors edition of Fallout: New Vegas a whole THREE MONTHS before the game was to be released giving them plenty of time to get it in the system and allocate a copy for that store. So the day of the release arrives and I am waiting 2 hours outside of the store before it opens because I wanted to be the first one there to get my copy. The doors finally open about 20 minutes late and I go inside only to discover they don't have my copy. I show them my reciepet and they say, "Oh we don't have a copy of the collectors edition and they have all been sold, no other store has one to give us for you. We can however give you a regular copy of the game and then give you the rest you paid on a gift card!" I was furious. I demanded a refund of my cash and they informed me they would not refund my cash but they could give me a gift card for the price I paid for the product they failed to acquire. I walked to the desk and there was this Caucasian lady waiting to be serviced and a Caucasian man being serviced. Within 5 minutes the geek squad agent greets the Caucasian lady asking how can I help you. He then began to help her with her device while still working on the device he was already working on. I sat there and waited, so 20 minutes goes by and he has yet to ask me what Iām there for. Iām waiting and being patient thinking heās multitasking, and when heās finished I will be next. He finished servicing the lady and continued to service the gentlemen device that was there initially. 10 more minutes goes by and another Caucasian young lady walks up. So at this point you have me, an African American female, a you g Caucasian female, and one Caucasian male. The geek squad agent thatās multi tasking looks straight past me and asks the young lady that just walked up how can I help you. Remind you Iāve waited patiently and not a soul has asked or even acknowledged that I was there waiting to be serviced. Iām not that person that gets ignorant and glorify myself with āI was here firstā, so I say a quick prayer. Meanwhile the geek squad agent goes to the back to get another agent to help this young lady that came after me, still never acknowledging I was there and have been waiting. The more I wait the thought of the reason for this type of customer service becomes heavier āis this because my skin is darker that I didnāt receive any service?ā š¤ This description of the type of service I received is not to accuse or label anyone but the service I received was partial and awful. Upon completion I was working with it and realize that it was one minor problem, a program that was supposed to be installed that assisted runner in the VR was not installed as we discussed Before the build. Their response was you're on your own it doesn't matter what we agreed to. And if you don't like it you can just return the computer. Which I wand up having to do. Since it would not do VR simulator it was built for. My only other option was taking a brand new computer which is fully paid for to be set up to do this to someone else to fix the program which I already paid them to do.
Understand this was a $3,500 computer fully set up that I had no problems with. And it showed just how much they will stand behind their product. One of the most incompetent and idiotic actions that I have seen in my life. All the brand new components are now used.
Never get a computer from this Best Buy! They're gross and incompetency was beyond belief. They do have one or two people working there that knows what they're doing but if you run across one of the other ones you're going to get screwed. I watch them completely disassemble a brand new computer just so they wouldn't have to load a program because one of the guys didn't understand instead of waiting for the person who did the build. It sounds unbelievable and even as they were doing it I could not believe it. Massive waste of time and money on my part by doing business with these fools.
