Great place to catch your own Dungeness dinner. Right at the very end of the town dock is a designated public pier you can fish and crab from. Go crabbing on low tide with the tide coming in, really important to catch the incoming tide at this location. The crabs come marching in with the rising water. Use good quality frozen squid, sardines or mackerel for bait. Do not use poor quality bait, Dungeness crabs are actually picky about bait quality. Make sure you have a shellfish license and a crab gauge for measuring them to be legal size. Read moreThis is a great area to spend some time relaxing. Although the beach may be short it is well worth a trip. Most times I've been there to myself the occasionally there may be a couple of others. The water is usually fairly calm as it is somewhat protected. There are usually just a few small waves rolling in. There's a convenient parking area and you basically walk straight onto the beach. There's also a restaurant right at the port with great food. Read moreA lot of the locals among us take our pooches to this beach. It's a great place to just say hello to neighbors, run the pups, welcome our visitors and just enjoy the beauty of the place. It's a lovely place. It is right up next to the dock, so you can also watch the boats as they are lifted after a day of fishing. It's rather fascinating! Completely relaxing! Lots of history here!
