Maurices — Local services in Portage

I was in the area and my wife asked me to return a few items for her. Receipt, tags, bag, everything fine accept they can only make a return with the card present or offer a Maurices card. Absolute scam. Everyone has the technology to return to original form of payment with the receipt. Was told "sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't" and "it's our store policy" One 'manager' said I've been in retail 30 yrs and you always need the card present for returns. Went next door to old navy to return something for my son- gave them the receipt and - guess what? No issue! Right back on the card! Just like Target, Meijer, and every retailer known to man. The technology has been around 10 plus years easily. I really think they are so desperate for sales they attempt forcing you into a merch credit for their store. The employees are always so welcoming. As for the clothing… I’m disappointed. I’m disappointed specifically in the plus section. The styles over the years have gotten uglier. I’m not trying to look like a mom. (No hate) The colors and styles are horrendous. They used to have a pretty good selection a few years ago but I have noticed a huge decline in cute clothes. The straight clothing is so cute but not the plus! I think it was a terrible idea to add a children section. I’m thinking that it’s taking over the plus section as they removed part of the plus to add the children’s. There is enough places to find clothes for children whilst there is few for plus. My fiancé informed me after receiving an extra amount of attention that we were being followed (profiling!) by staff while she was shopping. She is a Maurice’s card holder and regular shopper. The staff at this location who worked @11:30am 7/8/23 definitely need an education on public relations. You don’t follow around people due to race, religion, what ever other ignorant assumptions you make about another person’s appearance.
