Checked this place out when visiting Maine. Wasn’t let down by the amount of obscure media and things not seen in other places. Vinyl, Cassettes, VHS, Laserdisc, CEDs, 8Tracks, reel to reel tapes even! and a decent selection of vintage video games. So onto my personal experience: when first walking in the store felt like it was smaller, but upon walking around there was much more size to it. As I mentioned, lots of obscure formats. The VHS was fairly priced. Not your $1 thrift store VHS. Horror and hard to find tapes, but even then $3 is a steal on some of the films they had. I took a look at the CEDs and the two I picked out were unmarked so the worker and I negotiated a great price on them. I didn’t take a look at the vinyl, but the cassettes were pretty good. Lots of hard to find titles, and the 8Tracks were a nice touch to see. Not many record stores supply them. Overall great experience for the 20 minutes I spent and...
Read moreI was visiting town from Berlin and I noticed all the record stores on the main street and they all kinda look the same. Then I saw this place and in two words packed all the magic needed. This is the town where Stephen King was born, I gotta get me some Strange Maine! These people are not playing a part they are genuine music lovers, with an extensive knowledge of any genre, a big heart and offer you an extensive collection of records you won't find anywhere else. Before the internet was a thing there were places like this and sure you could probably find a lot of these things on Ebay but what you won't find is the guidance to understand which things are going to show you the rainbow of oddities that is American pop culture. Let your guard down and let these people be...
Read moreThis place is super cool and worth checking out but you need to call first. I have walked to the shop 3 different days at different times and each day it has been closed and I can’t find any socials so there is no heads up but a note at the door or just the door being locked which is a bummer. They have different hours listed on Yelp but those don’t appear to be accurate either. I know the sign on the door says 11-6 everyday but I went Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and it’s been closed every time I’ve walked up from around 12-2. Still worth checking and going they have awesome stuff hut a social page that er could look at to see if you are opening late or something would be great or a simple webpage with a banner! Or just post it to the Google...
