For a 4-star hotel, this place really cuts corners. If you're expecting standard service at this hotel, then forget it. This place doesn't do a good job with the below. And if it's too long to read, I suggest you just skip this place and book at Embassy Suites, The Press Hotel, or the Westin.
Toiletries were scarce: We stayed at the executive suite (super small, btw) and one had ONE thing of each toiletry. How does that work for 3 people??? For 3 nights???
Calling for room service is a PAIN: We obviously needed more supplies, so we called -- Getting to a person on the phone took more than 15 minutes and an additional 20 minutes afterwards for someone to show up at our door.
Elevators are a HASSLE!: There's only one, old elevator for the ENTIRE hotel for guests to use. And the elevator can only fit 3ish people with luggages at max. Every single time we came back to the hotel, it literally took 15 minutes to get to our room. They don't let you take the stairs for safety reasons, so you're stuck with a 1 star elevator.
No complimentary coffee/tea all day! : They provide coffee from the hours of 6:30am -11am out a Starbucks machine in the lobby of each floor. The coffee tastes like literal dirt, guys. Avoid it.
Front Desk is the worst: I'm telling you - no one was EVER at the front desk. People would be waiting around the area for someone to help at the front desk. At a certain point, I had to walk to the restaurant to tell this poor bartender that there's no one at the front desk and there are many people waiting to be helped. She didn't seem like she knew what to do, but went to the back anyway to try to help. Of course, 15-20 minutes, we finally get someone working their job at the front desk.
Self-parking is $25, valet parking is $50: What a rip off for already paying so much for a supposed "4-star" hotel. Even with self-parking, spots are super scarce and may need to wait sometime until a spot becomes free. WHAT IS THAT??
No breakfast options, except store bought, stale bagels and a Yoplait (which they claim is a locally sourced from Maine) yogurt. And even that doesn't come free. You need to pay $5 for something you can get a grocery store for a couple of dollars. Again, not very 4-star.

Read moreI would have loved to give this hotel a higher review but sadly could not. We booked this hotel for three nights for our first trip to Portland for our anniversary weekend. We did have to change rooms. Beware of staying here on a weekend there is a very very loud club Oasis located on the cobblestone street next to the hotel. The first room we stayed in was fine. The bed was fine - not the most comfortable. The bathroom definitely needed some updates including our shower door didn’t fully close and leaked water all over our floor any time we used it. Our second night starting at 8:00pm unknown to us there was a club not far down the street from our room. We decided after a day of hiking to find a movie and relax in our room. Our walls were vibrating from the very very loud base from the music. Around 11:00pm we called down to the front desk to ask what time the music was going to end and they said not until 1:00am would we like ear plugs or a sound machine. Neither the ear plugs or sound machine helped drown out either the music or vibrating walls from the base. The next morning we calmly went to the front desk. They clearly had this happen before and were very nice about it and helpful. The manager came out and told us we can move rooms at the end of the day and he would compensate us for that night but we would move to a smaller room. We got moved to the smaller room on the other side of the hotel and it was just fine again. The bathroom definitely is in need of updating and the bed was about the same. A few outlets also did not work. After getting our check at check out we were charged more for the smaller room than our larger room but we’re compensated for the night before due to the music- so our total for our stay was what we expected so we decided to leave it be.
Overall our stay was fine nothing to rave about. Our view from our first room was very nice until after our second night finding out one of the buildings is a very loud club. The hotel is 100% overpriced. Especially for what we paid and were charged for the rooms and $35 daily amenity fee if you didn’t eat at the hotel or get something from their market. Parking was...
