The ladies are very nice. This is going to sound like sour grapes but they more than once reject several of my clothes. (2014 Spring and Summer) I examine them very carefully in a bright light. They are my daughter's and even though she has already laundered/drycleaned them, I launder them again. But first check for any stains. She is a professional and purchases only NY&Co and Ann Taylor clothing because her company gives her a $500.00 clothing allowance every six months! She cleans her closet out after each season since she is replenishing with newer clothes. I bring them to the shop on hangers so they won't wrinkle as opposed to folding them in a basket. After I turn in the clothes, I shop in there. I am usually surprised at what clothes they accept. I am always confident my clothes will be accepted. I have seen a few clothes that may have a small stain or wrinkled. I just shrug and think maybe from someone trying the article one. But I usually find many items that are not quite "stylish" and am surprised. These are only in the women's section. Don't know about the younger sections (kids and teenagers). I also noticed when I was leaving the clothes they had hanging in the front window were somewhat "frumpy". I guess it depends on who is examining the clothes to be consigned. It has happened to me a few times where I was surprised. I asked one time why they were not accepted and was told they weren't in style! Surprised when I have noticed some of the clothes they are selling rather "un" stylish and mine were originally purchased just the previous season! Fortunately, I have a backup consignment shop and I may just go there from now on. They do get excited when they see me come in with my NY&Co and Ann Taylor clothes! They have many women who are looking for quality clothes and mine go very quickly! They are further for me to drive than to Hand Me Ups but it is worth it. I just drop off the clothes at Hand Me Ups so you may want to make an appointment so they can tell you to your face why the item(s) was not being...
Read moreI used to shop at the store when I was a little girl. I was about 10 or 12 years old and I'm remember coming here with my mom. I grew up in this little town called Powder Springs. I recently moved back and was super excited that hand me ups was still in business. I went in there not thinking I was going to find anything in my size since I'm a plus-size girl. I ended up walking out spending $45 on clothes. And every time I wear something that I bought from here I get the best compliments ever. I have been back a few times and have had to tell myself put it on the Shelf, it's not something you...
Read moreBeing new to the area, I thought it wise to support a small business today. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was palpably unwelcoming. I was one of two customers in the shop, and the clerk never greeted me or spoke a word to me (although she did take time to speak to the other customer). You would think a small business like this would be attentive to personal touches - at least greet their customers - but that was not the case. Even when it was just me in the shop, they turned their back to me and said nothing. I do...
