I'm revising my review because despite the original upset of the aftermath of this situation, I was contacted by the owner of the location and she was very sympathetic and offered a painting on her. I would like to believe that what transpired is not how things normally are and it was just bad luck on my part. The actual experience when I was there painting was pleasant and relaxing and was the highlight of my weekend (thus making the incident a bit more upsetting and frustrating.) Accidents happen, but no one ever apologized for the accident until now. Kudos to Jane, the owner, for much better customer service and actually apologizing for the incident. I'm looking forward to returning to repaint a figure of my dog.
Terrible. Went there and spent a good 5 hours painting a statue of my dog who is dying from cancer. They broke it and only offered us a free paint without a refund. Which essentially is saying, you already paid for this and spent 5 hours painting it, we broke it, you can paint it again and waste another day remaking it and still have to pay for it. What sort of compensation is that ? When speaking to a manager she was rude and compared it to returning a shirt with a hole in it to Macy's. Completely different - You didn't make the shirt for five hours and they didn't break the shirt AND they give you a refund. If you went to a restaurant and got a hair in your meal, they give you a new meal and you don't have to pay for either. Terrible service. Got a refund and no free paint. They are never getting my money again.
edit: they didn't even refund me the studio fee, for a sculpture I painted and will never get????? THAT...
Read moreI have driven over an hour to visit this Color Me Mine studio to meet friends and paint, both with and without kids along. In all cases I have truly enjoyed the experience and the studio's fun, creative atmosphere. There are many similar studios closer to me but I would totally make the drive again to this particular studio in Princeton for several reasons. First, the owner and staff are so very friendly and helpful! Second, we visited during a time of Covid concerns and felt that this business took the safety of their workers and clients seriously. We painted masked and outside and felt entirely safe and enjoyed the lovely surroundings. Third, this studio offers truly creative ideas and opportunities to explore art beyond "paint this piece with these colors, like our sample". Their sample pieces are often created with interesting design and technique options, and they offer patient and helpful instruction for clients who want to explore new painting techniques or who want encouragement toward making creative choices. They also offer interesting programming for kids that goes well beyond simply painting pottery. Wish I lived closer so my kids could attend...
Read moreWent here today for their "to-go kit" and absolutely recommend this shop. You can either go in store to paint (with masks, social distancing,) or paint outside, (it was nice out but a little too hot for me,) or get the to-go kit to take a piece home to paint. You can order the pieces online (they have tons of stuff) and then go pick them up. They provide paint AND brushes with the piece. They also include tips, a brochure with more info, and personalized thank you notes. This place really goes above and beyond to try and give you the whole experience, even if you're not staying to paint in store.
Crystal is the owner of the shop and she was super lovely when we went to pick up (and when we called with a bunch of questions, she was really helpful and great), and made it really easy to get everything we needed. She used to be at the shop in Hamilton, but moved here for more room in the store to paint, and this new place looks great.
Took a bunch of pictures both in store and once I got home, (sorry for the newspaper background, trying not to get paint everywhere lol)
Really awesome experience. You should def...
