RACIST! I could not believe this myself but they are. Brought the family there for the very first time for dinner on a Friday. I’ve been to nomad several times and love their food. I’ve also had their food from the food truck as well and quality is just great. I work in Princeton and do love their food. So I brought my family there so they can enjoy and try the food at Nomad too. It was a busy Friday evening. The restaurant was almost full but we were seated just before waiting times begun. There were already a lot of families there. Mostly with little kids under 5 including us since I have a 3 yr old. I thought this was wonderful as we weren’t the only one with a little kid. The families ahead of us were seated. I watch them escorted to their seats with pizza coloring sheets for their little one. I thought how adorable is that. Thinking my son could exercise his hand muscles holding the crayon and coloring too as we wait for our food. But they sat us, with no coloring sheets for my son but I waited thinking they’ll probably give one to him eventually. I thought, they’re just busy seating others but they never gave us coloring sheets. There are kids on the table to our right, left, front, back, and on our diagonals too. Alex was our server. He is buff and handsome looking. He took our order. We had a couple of pizzas and some salad. We were served pretty quickly. Thought the service was impressively fast. We didn’t need the coloring sheets after all. So that’s no issue. As we just about to finish our FIRSY slice of pizza and still have about two full pies on our table, Alex, our server asked if we want our pizza packed up to go. I was shocked, my mouth dropped and I was about to ask him what is he talking about, we just started eating. I was flabbergasted. But my husband gave me a firm look in the eye and I just knew what that meant. That he will take care of the situation so I let him. He said, yes please Alex that will be great and give us the check too. Now I was confused. Everyone around us where there first. And they’re still there. Alex never asked them if they want to pack up their food or get their check. The family to our left have almost finished all their food and Alex who is also serving them didn’t ask them to leave or if they’re ready for their check? But he did with us. So we paid, gave him a hefty tip, carried our boxes of pizzas to the car and ate them in the car in the parking lot of Nomad.
My husband explained how we were the only none white patrons and we were the only ones asked to pack our food before we even get to enjoy it. I have been to Nomad numerous times and yes, all those times I was with Caucasian friends and colleagues and never experienced such a thing. We will seat there for 2 hours approx and no one will rush us to pack up our food and go. We were a none white family and we were in and out in 10mins flat on a busy Friday evening for dinner. This never happened to me during all those times I went with my friends and colleagues. First time taking my family here. Never again.
I played this in my head over and over trying to prove my husband wrong. I can still picture all the families who were seated around us at that time, their behavior, their kids, how we differed as to be treated this way. Trying to understand why they asked us to pack our food before we get to enjoy it. In this day and age, I can’t believe there’s still establishments as racist as this pizza place (despite they do employ non-white). I don’t know why they singled us out. We were dressed nicely. Probably over dressed as my daughter was performing for the Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra in Princeton that evening after dinner. My 3 yo was very behaved much behaved that the other kids around us who can’t even sit properly on their seats but that’s ok. They’re kids. The only thing I can think off to be singled out that evening was our skin color. The thought just makes me sick to my stomach. Don’t employ racists because your establishment...
Read moreMy recent Wednesday lunchtime trip to Nomad Pizza in Princeton was a delightful slice of local life. The vibe was buzzing with professionals grabbing a quick bite and families catching up over piping hot pies. The single host and server were doing their best to keep up with the demand, and while service was a tad slow, their kindness and efficiency shone through.
We dove into the menu, starting with two fresh salads (perfect for balancing out the upcoming pizza onslaught!). Then came the main event: customizable pizzas that are simply out of this world. I've been a Nomad devotee for five years now, and their consistently incredible crust never disappoints. It's thin, perfectly charred, and holds its own against the generous load of toppings. Speaking of toppings, Nomad uses only the freshest ingredients, and even their oregano comes straight from the leafy goodness, not some dusty shaker.
For drinks, they have a fun selection of Mexican sodas and San Pellegrino, perfect for washing down all that cheesy goodness.
And no Nomad visit is complete without a round of foosball. We indulged in a quick game both before and after our feast, adding a playful touch to the already fantastic experience.
To top it all off, we shared a Nutella pizza. While I craved a bit more fruit action, the rich Nutella and perfectly cooked crust was a sweet ending to a savory symphony. The portion sizes were spot-on, leaving us happy but not stuffed, which is always a win.
In short, Nomad Pizza is a Princeton gem. It's a place where locals gather, professionals unwind, and foodies rejoice. The customizable pizzas are the star of the show, with their fresh ingredients and incredible crust stealing the hearts (and stomachs) of all who try them. Sure, service might be a tad slow at times, but the friendly staff and overall fantastic experience make it a small price to pay.
Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars (minus a smidge for the occasional service slow-down, but major props for the foosball and fresh oregano!)
Bonus tip: Don't forget to BYOB for the ultimate...
Read moreIt was 'literally' the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. The service was horrible when I visited with my husband and in-laws. It took over an hour for our order to come out. It wasn't terribly busy when we visited with the restaurant being only half full. We put in our order at 2:30 and received our order 3:30. There were 2 tables that came after us and by the time we received our order they already had finished their food and either waited for the check or paid. When I first brought up our order not coming out after seeing one of the other table receiving the check, our server told us "IT'S LITERALLY COMING OUT", so we waited. After another 10 to 15 mins of waiting my husband approached the manager asking when our order would be ready, and our server over heard him and yelled "IT'S LITERALLY COMING OUT OF THE OVEN. LOOK!". We finally received our order 10 mins after that exchange (so I guess it wasn't 'literally' coming out when we asked....). She wasn't as rude to people at other table, and I wonder if she acted that way because we were Asians and my in-laws clearly did not speak English. When we spoke with the manager, the manager told us she is frazzled. Then, we noticed that one of our pizza that the manager brought out was wrong. We did finally receive a correct order at the end. The food was also disappointing. We ordered Tartufo, and we didn't taste the truffle oil AT ALL. It's either they forgot to drizzle or they were using old truffle oil. I've been to this restaurant many times, and the food quality has been gradually getting worse, and this last visit was very disappointing. I would no longer recommend this...
