I was reccomended this place by a stylist friend as being a high quality salon with high standards for hair. I called in advance asking for the price range of a perm which was said to start around $150 but could increase due to the length of my hair (I have mid length hair, past my shoulders above my waist as pictured). The day of my appointment my stylist, Tammy, did my perm completely wrong for my hair type and length as I later found out, and left me with a rats nest on my head. She used a single rod for long strands hair instead of multiple stacked on top of each other (this will not allow it to hold long term). She then had the audacity to charge me $600 for the style, a ridiculous increase from the orginal price. I paid and left and then returned the salon shortly after realizing just how horrifying my hair looked. Tammy assured me that the perm would sit for a few days and then settle into what I wanted. Attached are pictures of my hair 4 days later. Needless to say I was distraught that my normally silky, healthy hair could even possibly look like this. Sections of my hair had been burned off and are still regrowing to this day. The curls were not only horribly done, but completely inconsistent, with some sectioms being completely straight (??). I returned to the salon asking for Tammy to fix it. She said she wouldn't be able to do anything. I asked to speak to the manager and she told me she'd give my phone number to the owner of the store. I waited 2 days and the owner never called. I then returned to salon and asked to speak to them. I was informed it was impossible for me to speak to the owner as they do not deal with customers, but rather the store manager. So, Tammy had essentially sent me on a wild goose chase to avoid me complaining. The manager ended up refunding me for this disaster after an excessively lengthy conversation. About a month later my hair completely straightened out and returned to normal, despite me using the care tips Tammy had reccomended. So not only did she absolutey destroy my hair (I literally have hairs regrowing from my scalp bc or this), but in the end what she promised to last at least 6 months barely lasted weeks (which in the end, I'm grateful for). Overall, not only was the worst hair experience I have ever had especially by a high end salon, but the most unprofessional customer service and care I have ever encountered. Please do...

I really hate to write negative reviews, especially since I've had nothing but wonderful experiences with the other services here, but I had a massage yesterday and the experience was TERRIBLE. I will not be returning unless Metropolis learns to be more body-positive when it comes to tall and plus size women.
First off, the lady brought me to a changing room with lockers, and pointed me in the direction of some sandals and a robe that I was to change into. And then she disappeared before I could tell her that the sandals were laughably too small (seriously, probably less than half the size of my feet) and the robe was about five sizes too small.
I was left alone and ended up shouting for attention as they had apparently simply abandoned me without a second thought, until another lady showed up. I explained to her and she rifled through their robes until she was able to find one that was only two sizes too small, and a pair of sandals that were likewise only about two sizes too small.
It was stiff and uncomfortable and defeated the purpose of the robe as it was not able to cover my body.
Then they brought me back to the main area, where they had prepared a bowl to soak my feet in hot water-- which would have been nice and relaxing, except the bowl was once again, way too small. My feet were cramed in there uncomfortable and it did nothing to relax me. By the end my toes were hurting.
Finally, they brought me to the massage room where-- you guessed it-- the massage table was about a foot too short and my feet were hanging off the edge. The lady informed me that this was the longest table they had.
So, I wish places like this would at least have the guts to say TALL PEOPLE NEEED NOT APPLY. But unfortunately, like so many other places, they are more than happy to take money from us plus sizeed women while providing subpar services.
I will NOT be...
Read moreHaving my daughters hair and make up done for prom is something we do with each daughter T Metropolis. We started in 2007 and our last daughter graduates this year. This gives me something to compare across the three daughters. In 2017 when our middle daughter graduated she came out of Metropolis with a completely stunning hairdo. The stylist made her look like a movie star. Her make up was dark and smoky and when everything was done I thought she looked like a princess in her black gown. This year my youngest daughter brought in her dress so the stylist could understand what she was working with. It was pretty quickly dismissed and my daughter walked away with what honestly was something another daughter of mine could’ve done. Two braids and a curling iron was all she got. Needless to say I was a little disappointed that there was very little creativity involved. When it was time for make up it seemed very cookie cutter. Again, some thing that probably we could’ve done at home. Again, a little disappointing especially when it comes with $150 price tag without the tip.
I understand that the salon does a lot of prom make up and hair but this is a big deal for a lot of the kids and I think they’re looking to walk out looking like they’re very best. My daughter looked fine this year but definitely didn’t feel like she got the glam look we were hoping for.
Overall, I like metropolis. Some of their spa treatments have been really nice, and some of their stylists have been really great. I feel like this time we might’ve just...
