I have been to this restaurant a couple times before and enjoyed it by not this time. We decided to do take out and since the parking was easier here than at Tandoori Bites we decided on Cross Culture. So here's the good & bad:
The Good:
The Tandoori Chicken was good although the portion was small. The Raita was tasty & fresh They gave us a ton of basmanti rice which was tasty.
The Bad:
Small Portions - Except for the rice the portions seemed too small for the price. Pint containers of the Chana Masala & Aloo Gobhi for $10.95 & $12.95 respectively
Tasteless Aloo Gobhi - I love Aloo Gobhi and this was about the blandest most tasteless Aloo Gobhi I ever had.
Mystery Pakora - The Mixed Pakora was totally bland and it was difficult to tell the taste of one from the other. It was just like batter over mystery filling. On the upside the dipping sauces were very tasty.
The Chana Masala while very tasty had a 1/8" layer of oil sitting on top in the container.
Rubber Garlicless Naan - We ordered the Garlic Naan and it was like playing "Where's Waldo" trying to find any garlic on the Naan. On top of that it had the consistency of rubber.
Overall it was a disappointing meal. I won't be back. I'll stick with Tandoori Bites and deal with the...
Read moreLove this place! The ambiance inside is cozy and romantic at night. My boyfriend and I are both vegan AND gluten-free, so it can be tough finding places that understand both restrictions and are willing to accommodate them. Naveen, a manager at the restaurant, was able to give us a plethora of options and is well-versed in V/GF needs. We wanted to try a few things since it was our first time visiting. We ordered the baingan bhartha, chana masala, and the vegetable jalfrezi with a side of papadam (spiced lentil flour bread - a favorite of mine at any Indian restaurant). The baingan bhartha, chana masala, and papadam are automatically V/GF, but the vegetable jalfrezi you'll have to ask for a modification to be done to the sauce on the dish. The modified sauce (I forget the name of it) was spicy and tasty. All four of the dishes were delicious. The portion sizes were solid, as well. I have high standards for Indian food and this fits the bill. Just ask for Naveen and you'll be all set! I highly recommend...
Read moreAs a vegetarian, I typically visit Indian Restaurants on a weekly basis. This time, was only my second time having dinner at this location The food was good and the staff was friendly. They did not hesitate to change the Oinion Kulcha to Onion Kulcha Roti (whole wheat). Other Indian Restaurants offer complimentary Papadum, but this restaurant does not.
Overnight, I woke up with an incredibly dry mouth and needed water. This also happened the last time I ate there, indicating a very high sodium level in their food. More importantly, two of us shared two vegetarian entries and we both woke up to stomach cramps and symptoms of minor food poisoning. After several visits to the bathroom, we both started feeling better. Needless to say, I doubt we will go back.
In fairness, the couple that joined us, ordered two different meat dishes and didn't suffer...
