CUSTOMER SERVICE LACKING
I was looking for a copy of the "National Geographic Walking Tours of London" for my daughter. I managed to find ONE copy in the B&N Pueblo, CO location. That's not too far - seeing that we are in Colorado Springs.
I chose IN STORE PICKUP and was given 3 days to pick it up. Fantastic! We received a text message, email, and courtesy call from B&N (nice touch, btw) saying they had the magazine and we could pick it up anytime by Wed by 8 pm. So far, so good. We planned our trip for Tues as it's a 45-minute drive.
On Tuesday, we had a tooth emergency, and people who have experienced this know how fun those are. Here's where things go south, and where Barns and Noble Pueblo get their 1 star review. I called the store, and Rosealee answered. I gave her all our information and asked if they could please, pretty please, hold it for one more day.
Instantly, Rosealee became quite agitated, saying that I should KNOW that B&N doesn't hold magazines (how dare I ask!) and that it OBVIOUSLY wasn't being held anymore. Furthermore, some other very acute employee - knowing this very IMPORTANT rule - returned it to the shelves. Stunned, I asked if Rosealee if it was still available for purchase. Without checking, Rosealee gleefully told me that it was sold and no longer available. (It had probably sold to someone else in the long, long line of people in Pueblo waiting for their very own copy of London Walking Tours, 3rd Edition).
This takes me to Thursday morning, where I am looking online and find that B&N has ONE copy in stock, in Pueblo!!! Surprise!! The very same store that mistakenly held it for me the day before. (Some poor employee probably lost their job for that colossal mess up) This time, I purchased it, and it's waiting for pickup - if that's acceptable to Rosalee.
Barns and Noble Pueblo, do better. At a time when brick and mortar stores are becoming a relic of the past, customer service matters more than ever. It's what keeps B&N competitive. And Rosealee, when someone calls, don't be frustrated that your fellow employees are providing customer service, join them. Even if it breaks the "no holding booklets/magazine" rule that online B&N isn't aware of.
Instead, be happy that you're employed at B&N and not working in a gigantic Amazon wearhouse. Remember, the only difference between B&N and Amazon is customer service. It's...
Read moreI am born and bred here in Colorado and I am now just getting the ability at age 36 to travel outside of the state. Although I have seen pretty much every edge and dot on map of this state [Colorado], Pueblo is the place where I go beyond regularly lol as the small town in which I live: [Walsenburg], offers the usual of small towns, and leaving just enough in unavailability to have to travel 100 miles north- or further! However, when I walk into Barnes & Noble, I feel like I am home. As corny or strange as that sounds, I am so comforted to see so many books and unique items on the many shelves that surround the store. And!!! Who could forget the coffee!! Starbucks coffee served all day so patrons of the store can sit in the provided easy chairs, drink a latte and read for as long as you wish to do so! Where are you going to find all of those charms in one single place? I will say that all of what I mentioned above is absolutely AMAZING!; yet what I absolutely adore is seeing the books- being able to pick up a book about any subject and feel the crisp new pages between my fingers. Smell the fresh binding and feel all of the work that went on every single page, down to every single letter. Today our world is so "Techy" or digital to the point of over kill; or shall I say overload. Yes I get and understand the whys and whats etc. etc. but as a writer myself who would absolutely love to be among the shelves (even though I am published- no books YET), a meeting of all the great minds in one domain. There is something nostalgic about holding a book in one's hands; feeling the pages as you turn to read more or see more. I am sorry, but although I live among all in this technological planet, nothing can replace the real thing. Books are among the oldest "living" so to speak thing on this plane. I am sorry; to me they [Books] are alive, and I am so thankful that they are still able to rest among the shelves in any book store etc. Barnes & Noble is just one place where I walk in and feel as though I have just walked into a church. Peace, relaxation, thinking, and enjoying. Five stars all the way......
Read moreI really like to read horror manga and I picked up my first manga here. The store is really nice and has a wide selection to choose from. I kinda wish they had their selections by author instead of title but that's just my preference. Ever since I have purchased all my mangas from here and their online store. I'm giving it 3 stars because of the price. I've looked at other places but the mangas are the same so I'm SOL on that plus I'm impatient haha. The other reason it's at 3 is one of the employees. Everytime I go there no matter what day. There is this gentleman that is at checkout. He slams the books on the counter after scanning and has a very negative attitude every single time I've gone in there. The first time he did this I thought he was having a bad day so I didnt make a big deal about it but after the second and third time I started noticing that he just has a bad attitude. I remember asking him if he can help find a book for me since the website said it was in stock no more than 5 mins ago he stomps to the section and kinda started moving in a really aggressive manner then goes to his computer only to tell me it's not available and i was most likely seeing it available in another location. I will continue to shop there but I am going to try my best to get a different employee...
