The ongoing remodel for this property does NOTHING to cover the horrible service.
The manager, John Lee, acts as if a root canal would be favored over showing up for work.
The breakfast lady voices her opinion of what people choose to eat with a good, old fashioned "Jesus Christ" under her breath. Of course, she wouldn't waste her time paying attention to the fact that THREE breakfasts were being prepared by my overweight, senior citizen mother. No, she ASSUMED they were one meal and commented.
The breakfast itself is subpar. We travel a great deal and this was the worst offering I have seen in at least a decade of travel. Yes, I'm including the bag lunches offered during COVID in that comparison.
The front desk man, Mathew, doesn't want to hear anything but praise. His ego is big enough to need a room of its own. He is RUDE and combative. I feel badly for his mother.
Security is a nightmare with the back door constantly propped open with rocks. The room was not clean. The carpet was old and stained. The ceiling in the bathroom was covered in yellow gooey spots. The linens weren't clean. The beds are uncomfortable and the pillows are so worn out they fold them into themselves to look like throw pillows. I have never seen anything like it.
If all that wasn't enough, they fix mistakes with mistakes. My debit card was charged time and time again until we were nearly stranded without any money. Mathew took advantage of the opportunity to berate me when my card was finally declining the transactions. I only keep a reasonable amount of money in my travel account and that had been tied up with their numerous charges. I had to warn him that he did NOT have my permission to run my card again and to drop it. He made a scene in front of people who had filled the lobby and made it look as if I was broke and trying to pull a fast one. I was humiliated. That changed to full on pissed off.
Housekeeping staff was nice enough.
We stayed at this property several times years ago and had looked forward to this return visit. The remodeled lobby was a pleasant surprise. However, we won't be returning because the staff just isn't worth dealing with. Such a shame.
The location of this property is pretty good. It is surrounded with no less than 5 other lodging options. I suggest you look into one of those instead. From what I can tell online, they are less expensive with better amenities.
I will be contacting corporate with the full details...

Read moreWe just finished a long weekend here. Unfortunately, the weather was cold and rainy, so we ended up staying in our room more than we had planned. The room was nice. However, the bathroom and closet door were sticking. It was really hard to open the closet door. It could be because of the dampness, but not sure. One of the biggest problems was that there was only one nightstand. And it was on my husband's side. I need my phone close to me, so we moved one of the footstools over to my side to make it a little easier. The clock on the phone was 2 hours ahead and we couldn't figure out any way of resetting it to the correct time. And the light on the microwave was so bright we had to cover it up at night. I do wish hotels would put a nightlight in the bathroom. I don't like turning on the light in the middle of the night and it's really dark. So, we bring our own nightlight with us. Also being stuck in our room for the weekend, I was trying to use my laptop. Internet was soooo slow! Even on my phone! I have unlimited data, but had to use the wifi for my phone to work.
The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was ok. Being diabetic, it was hard to find something to eat that wasn't loaded with carbs. I ended up with eggs and sausage. The biggest problem was that they weren't very hot. Also, we noticed when checking the vending machine out, there was NOTHING for a diabetic to drink besides water. No diet or zero sugar options (most places offer Coke, which I cannot drink anyway). Also there were no prices on the vending machine.
All in all, it was a pleasant stay. The problems were minor. But may want to...
