I am extremely disappointed with this store. I was drawn in by an advertisement for 50% off the "original" price. In the store, I found a sofa with a $999 price tag, which indicated that its "original" price was $2000.
However, a quick internet search revealed that the exact same sofa is sold on the Costco website for $1500. This means the "original price" was artificially inflated by $500. Furthermore, a genuine 50% discount off the real price should have resulted in a cost of $750, not $999.
When I politely pointed this out, a manager was called over. He was instantly dismissive, with a smug look on his face. He began arguing that the sofa wasn't from Costco. When I showed him the product page on my phone, he scoffed and said, "If you think it's a better deal at Costco, then go buy it at Costco."
But the circus didn't end there. As I started to walk away, he changed his tune. Leaning in with a conspiratorial whisper, he offered to "work something out" on the $130 delivery fee, suggesting I pay $70 and he would cover the other $60 "out of his own pocket"—a clear lie. To top it off, he offered an additional 5% discount if I paid in cash.
This behavior and these sketchy, cash offers are not the standards of a legitimate business; they are the tactics of a street market swindler. The manager isn't just rude; he operates like a petty con artist.
Conclusion: The store uses dishonest pricing, and the management is not only aggressive but also engages in suspicious schemes to make a sale. I strongly recommend...
Read moreI want to love this place. They sell products returned to other retailers. Mostly from Costco with some Amazon sprinkled in. Easy, they are high quality retailers with high quality products. Unfortunately it’s not worth the risk. They also don’t seem to test most items prior to offering up for sale. Especially unfortunate when buying an appliance because they don’t offer returns. They only offer the hope of in store credit, and even that comes with a side of interrogation and distrust. Essentially, they get you to test their products for them, all on your dime. Most items are only a few bucks cheaper than retail. Maybe 20% cheaper on appliances and furniture. Even the little things turn out to be a mean trick: I thought I got a great deal on a "2-pack" brand name lunchbox, but when I got home I opened the box to only find one inside.
I truly love bargain hunting. FB marketplace, ebay buyer, garage sales I do it all. Most of our big purchases are manufacturer refurbished. I prefer it and I have a lot of experience weighing the discount, effort to acquire, and risk of defect to determine total value making a purchase. Discount Outlet score poorly on all three measures. You might find a gem here now and then, but buyer beware the discount may not be...
Read moreBe aware of prices and do your due diligence in looking at the items before buying them. Most liquidation stores have tags that explain the reason if they were returned, but this store doesn't. I bought a couple things that ended up being broken once I opened up the box. I also bought something that was more expensive than what I could have paid on Amazon.
3 stars because the variety of...
