We went to dinner to celebrate my mom's 83rd birthday and arrived at 5:40 pm. We were prepared for a wait. Love the software that tells you where you are on the list. We were seated within 30 minutes, it was busy as it was a Sunday night, 9/28/25. Our waiter bumped into my husband's chair 7 times without apologizing as we sat for 20 minutes without an offer of water drinks or anything. Finally he showed up with every other word being "I'm sorry for the wait.". We explained it was my mom's birthday and we know what we want and me being me and annoyed, I proceeded to order for everyone. Mom wanted Eggplant Parmesan with angel hair pasta instead of spaghetti and 2 Lasagna dinners for me and my hubby. We would all like salad and bread sticks, my mom and husband would like coke to drink and I would like ice water with a straw and a Sicilian Sunset. My hubby emphasized we are hungry and advised we saw people getting refunded in the parking lot and we hope our food will be ok and that we've waited a while and we are hungry. The waiter said I'll get your orders right in and bring your salad and bread right out and more apologies. Salad, bread and drinks arrived without incident. A new table is seated near us, this is important . The entire dinning room by the way is frigid! Not cold, FRIGID!! I went to the car to get my husband's oversized wrangler sweatshirt for my 4"8' mom. One table had BLANKETS!! Asked the waiter and the host staff if anything could be done and they all said they've spoken to the Manager. I get back tho the table hoping our food has arrived as our salad and bread was long gone but the waiter was there letting my mom and husband know that he is checking with the kitchen and they're going as fast as possible and our dinner will be out soon. The table that had been seated near us that I had mentioned earlier? They've got their food and are halfway done with their meals!!!! I go the restroom because I need to do something or I'm gunna say something. I worked as a waitress, bus kid hostess and kitchen help, deli manager and I could go on, for many years. The table near us was getting their food boxed up when our food arrived. My husband asked for a refill on his coke and the waiter offered one free dessert for all the long waits in addition to the birthday dessert m. We ate about half of our meals quickly, asked for boxes and the birthday dessert and Free dessert to be boxed and bagged as we didn't realize that it was 8:10 pm. We hadn't expected what is at most and hour and a half dinner to take so much longer. The waiter then advised he had to make sure he could give us the free dessert when he already promised it! This is one of the worst experiences we've had at the Olive Garden ever. We still gave an 18% tip, which the suggested tip on the check is friggin annoying and ridiculous!! The waiter was nice but over apologetic which leads me to believe you need to get a handle on you management team and get some team building to happen. As busy as you were I have never seen so many people walking around empty handed!! Word of mouth people!! South Hill Olive Garden needs new Management or staff or both.... Last night was a HUGE fail as the customers were not...
Read moreMy wife and myself came in for dinner on 12/21. We ordered asiago tortellini and seafood alfredo. When our order came we were both served asiago tortellini. I informed the server that we had ordered a seafood alfredo. She apologized and sent in a replacement order. When the seafood Alfredo came out these scallops were excessively fishy tasting. I've had this dish before at this location and it's one of my favorites. But the scallops tasted either spoiled or undercooked which may have happened since they were rushing to fix the first mistake. I sent it back and did not ask for a replacement as I had lost my appetite and as I write this review I'm currently glued to my toilet. My wife who had the asiago tortellini complained that her dish was excessively salty but we had already felt bad about having to send back one plate we didn't want to bring of another issue. I tasted it and particularly the chicken I agree was excessively salty and I am someone who loves his salt. Then when it came time to pay on the bill there where two asiago tortellinis in one seafood alfredo on the bill. The server said she would have the mistaken asiago tortellini taken off the bill the mistaken asiago tortellini taken off the bill. We waited for what felt like quite some time for the bill to get fixed and when the server finally came back she seemed surprised that we were still there. she had apparently fixed the bill but had not told us it was fixed so we were waiting for quite some time because we didn't know the bill had been fixed. We have been to this location several times and have had no problems. But me and my wife are both upset with how things were handled. My wife and myself both agree it's probably better for us to learn how to make these dishes rather than go a restaurant spending 40 to $70 especially since Olive garden doesn't seem to be what it used to. It is not just this visit It seems like every time we go the quality of the food has slipped slightly. I used to love the breadsticks but now they always seem flavorless and many of the sauces seem to be less flavorful than...
Read moreI was so disappointed when I got home with my TO GO order, that there was no dressing in with the salad, especially since the lid to the salad has a carved out spot just for holding the dressing cup, so it seems like it should have been much more noticeable when placing it in the bag that it had been forgotten. Also, the lid to one of the meals wasn't closed AT ALL. The pasta sauce from the chicken parmesan and half the noodles from the alfredo slipped right out of the box when I tried to lift it out of the bag. AND also the lid to the marinara sauce that came with the bread sticks wasn't closed properly either. 😕 I am the expo at a comparable restaurant around the corner from The Olive Garden and I package all of our TO-GO orders there so I 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤 that it can be chaotic when 5-10+ tickets are lined up on the rail and you're trying to bag 3 orders up simultaneously, sometimes things get missed, but this was all around sloppy . There's actual people that are going to be eating the food that your wrapping up and you can't forget that part. It's the most important thing. Someone spent their hard earned money on a meal. What you do as an expo MATTERS. Take pride in your work and ALWAYS treat every ticket for what it is. It's a GUEST. As an expo you have the final say as to what goes in the bag and how it goes in there. Don't send out a sloppy product and definitely don't degrade the food that the cooks just spent time on to make a well prepared meal by carelessly throwing it into a bag without closing the lids on food containers!
Maybe this was just a fluke, in which case, you can chalk it up as an honest mistake, but you might consider just double checking your work before sending it out. That would really help to prevent someone else's meal from being so much of a mess.
Money is hard to make these days, and it's really easy to waste, too. Unfortunately, I feel like I wasted it this time, by ordering food from Olive Garden and will probably never repeat the mistake of ordering from there again. I did add a star, though, for the fried mozzerella I ordered. It was...
