Games are fun. If you come for the group games and fun it's a great place. Lots of fun multiplayer games( hungry hungry hippos, four players air hockey, pacman and racing games you can play with multiple friends.)
Ticket ranges are pretty fair. No, you won't be able to get the biggest item in one sitting with your ticket winnings but younwil be able to save them and after about 4-5 visits you could get some of the cooler prizes in the prise room.
Prizes are about what you would expect from a Americanized "Japanese arcade" many kid friendly options and anime figures, as well as branded merch for round 1 and other big companies.
Claw machines are rigged to lose carnival style. Based on Japanese style of playing but doesn't follow the same rules cause of the dollar rules the world in these places. They haven't figured out that if you makes game playable like the way they are supposed to be in Japan, you will get more people in who will make you more money which will make it so you can get better merch and maybe even special items you can put up a sign that says "one win only." This loss of two stars, really saddened by the flagrant disregard of culture in this.
Food: Stick to the normal fare anything special ( chicken karage, takoyaki, for example) will come out raw in the middle or over cooked. (Weird right) All the normal fare ( pizza, burgers, french fries, ect,,) loss of one star. I was excited to be able to get the forging fare here but it failed to impress.
Ice cream: Best thing in the food is something they just serve to you 8 flavor ice cream bin. It's 99 cents for a scoop of ice cream and you can get it in the cup or on a cone. Stay away from the ice cream machine in the back of the he area. They just break to often to be a good option.
Bowling: bowling is fun and exciting. Almost the best reason to come here. It's a little price gouging in terms of single games, but the deals are what make it a little better. Only one or two places within 15 miles have a better hourly deal and only one other place has an all day all night deal. ( Open to 3 PM when they open at 9 am... That's a lot of bowling even crazier is the 4 to close... They close at ²2 AM!) I have gone and tried both. Only left cause of the food (see above comments) but they have good fun and the strike game is exciting. I have come just for the bowling and I would do it again! Adding back One star. This makes things better.
Other things : birthday area: big! You can have a special party for 35+ people in the specialized areas or you can just use the benches to have one there. It's great for children of all ages and would be fun for everyone who went.
Karaoke: I don't think they have this in this one but since I don't have friends that engage in off key drunken or bad singing we normally skip this. :) but you're welcome to make a review on this one if you try it here.
Bathrooms: actually usually clean. Weekends and nights they are much more deligent for sure but every visit I haven't had any issues with bathrooms in this place.
Overall 3 stars. With the food and the terrible shady claw game mechanics, the experience comes out to a mid rating. If you go for the bowling, the ticket games or the regular games, then I would say do it. You will have fun here! Keep to the pizza or the burgers( or ice cream!)
oh and bring your own bags as the company doesn't have any merch or bags for any ticket winnings or Prizes.
Added a pic of bowling game I played...
Read more☝️🎳 We highly reccommend this Round-1 Amusement/Entertainment/Activity/Event Center. In our case the engaged couple wanted to expand their wedding rehearsal to include bowling & other functions, because they're active FUN LOVERS, and Round-1 in Puyallup was the obvious choice in the Tacoma/Seattle area.
👉Juan👈 assisted us from the investigation phase to completion of a very successful event that included dozens of our closest relatives and friends, of which all were satisfactorily impressed and appreciative.
Also we are quite appreciative of Divina and others who also demonstrated a professional and eager willingness to exercise a terrific work ethic by taking courteous initiatives in assisting with preparations in a cheerful manner.
The event rooms are sizable and accommodating, with ample privacy and several nice amenities such as a karaoke system complete with quality sound and a microphone to accommodate PA in addition to having fun. Plenty of tables and chairs.
Our package inclded many pizzas with various typical toppings and ample soft drinks. Cattering was also permitted which allowed for the soon to be Bride to have one of her special request meet by a favorite local restaurant.
Juan's performance, participation, and assistance is commendable, having gone above and beyond to ensure complete satisfaction, from accommodating the initial inspection of the facility with a thorough and convincing tour that included the ability to video and share photos of the many options, to altering his attire to that if a more festive and wedding venue appropriate look, to timely follow-up contacts leading up to the venue, to allocating a sufficient number of staff to help with unloading, loading, setting up, cleaning, providing supplies, decorating, directing, organizing, providing digital and printed photographs of the event, and accommodating various special request.
The bowling lanes are superior to most with quick accommodations of all things that make for a fun and memorable experience.
I'm likely omitting to include other positive aspects of our experience, since so much was happening for the several hours that we were there.
Terrific location within a big shopping mall, near several nice restaurants and other stores, fueling facilities, etc, on a major thoroughfare that has nice hotels and intersects with the highway/interstate. Additionally, the fairgrounds is nearby.
Juan, together with numerous other staff including management ensured that an extremely important wedding rehearsal venue resulted in complementary appreciation by all in attendance. We reccommend well deserved promotions and bonuses for all of the employees who contributed.
Pricing is competitive. A fairly new facility that's well maintained and clean. 😃 ☝️ 🏆 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ‼️ 🎳
Thanks again Juan. He is, indeed,...
Read moreTwo stars only because it's visually impressive. But, that's the only good thing about our experience at Round One. If you really want to go bowling, go somewhere else. We went on a Saturday, which affects prices. For one lane, for one hour I was charged 93 dollars, plus 4 dollars apiece for 5 pairs of bowling shoes. We were a party of three adults and two young children. So, already I'm 113 dollars down before setting foot on a lane, for which we waited an hour to access. We ordered French fries and chicken wings to nosh on while waiting for the lane. Here's where the real fun started. It took 40 minutes to put together 3 orders of fries and a six piece wing order. This, of course, meant that the minute our food order was ready, so was our lane. So now we are scrambling to get everyone shod and ready to bowl, while wolfing down the food order to keep it away from the bowling area. The chicken wings were cold. Not lukewarm from sitting out after we finally got them. But cold as in still frozen in the center. Now, if you are a bowling person, you will hate the bowling part of the arcade. When we set up the bowling score keeper, unbeknownst to us, it was set up for some game we weren't familiar with. Not a regular game. So I had to get help setting it up for normal bowling. To their credit, an employee was responsive and did that right away. So...on to bowling. We had little kids, so they used these little ball ramps rather than trying to bowl normally. This took up some time. And we didn't know that the game was on a timer, having spent a lifetime being charged per game and not for time. So you can guess that we didn't get the entire game in before an hour lapsed. In the middle of the 10th frame, the score keeper shut off. And yes, the timer starts flashing at 5 minutes remaining. Ridiculous. There are all kinds of images beamed on the lanes, and jumbo TV screens broadcasting sports events behind the bowling pin setters. Very distracting. So, if you really want to bowl, this is not for you. There are tons of arcade games, and the place is impressive visually. It's fun for kids, which yea, I get is the whole point. But our memory of Round One will always be the place we spent two hours and over 200 dollars to bowl a game they didn't even let us finish, while charging 12 bucks for uncooked chicken wings. This is a good place for rich people to dump their kids so they can shop the mall that it's built into. I think maybe it's the old Sears location? I won't...
