I find it quite interesting that some rate the store and products based on needing a quarter to obtain a shopping cart (refunded when return cart), that there are charges for bags (CA has been charging for a plastic bag, yes, even Walmart and mainline grocery stores for years (so glad to be in AZ!) and that Aldi has brands and items they have never heard of (and apparently don’t want to try).
As a value shopper and conscientious consumer, my experience at Aldi has been fantastic - I will share with you why! First, the quarter for a cart (refunded when cart returned) is brilliant. No more carts piled up all over the parking lot, being rolled on purpose, or not, being blown by the winds, a slight slope in pavement-you get the idea- jammed into your car causing damage. Think about this the next time you go to Walmart or mainline grocery stores. I shudder every time I have to go to stores with carts - the carelessness and disrespect is amazing- not in a good way. I love the quarter for a cart and always keep a couple quarters in the car for trips to Aldi - and help when someone needs a quarter. Perfect, except for the lazy who don’t return the cart. Then I go get it and get another quarter or 2 - let’s be kind. I take my own reusable bags and have a small plastic collapsible bin for car trunk to place items in. I have been carrying reusable bags and the bin for years - other stores like Trader Joe’s and Sprouts have encouraged bringing reusable tote for years as do other types of stores. I don’t know how someone thinks this is an unusual phenomenon for Aldi.
Now to the products - some of my favorites are fresh fruits and vegetables, sourdough bread, brioche buns, nut and trail mix, the chocolates are fantastic, kalamata olives, balsamic vinegar, Asian salad dressing, sweet Hawaiian bread stuffing, oatmeal, canned beans, basmati rice, and the cheeses (goat, brie, havarti, fresh mozzarella, fresh Parmesan), Greek yogurt, milk, tortilla chips, potato chips, pretzels, frozen ravioli, frozen vegetables. That is just a basic snapshot. They have specialty items from Germany, Italy, Greece to name a few countries. Oh, the sweet red jarred pitted cherries are fabulous to eat out of the jar or for a pie. I could go on and on - and no, I do not work or have any affiliation to Aldi.
You may not get “everything” at Aldi - but that is to each their own. Aldi has fantastic basics as well as gourmet, specialty items that are a good value. Now I must fine tune my shopping list and am ready to experience new specialty items on my next trip to Aldi. Thanks for reading -...
Read moreDear Aldi, You’ve been my weekly grocery stop every Thursday, faithfully, without fail. Typically, you’d earn five stars from me. But today left a bitter taste in my mouth. Your cashier, April, is in desperate need of retraining—or removal—from cashier duties altogether. I’m not sure if she’s a manager or simply on a power trip, but her attitude at checkout was nothing short of disgraceful. I genuinely feel sorry for any employee who has to work alongside her. This morning, I came in with my one-year-old and my disabled, elderly mother, expecting the same kindness and efficiency I usually receive. Instead, I was met with April’s sour expression and clear eagerness to rush me out of her line. Without so much as a word, she began throwing my groceries into a separate cart, completely disregarding the fact that I might want to keep the cart I was using. Every other cashier has been thoughtful enough to let me keep my cart, understanding my circumstances. But April couldn’t spare the extra seconds it would’ve taken. In her haste, she managed to break my eggs and even nagged my disabled mother to hurry and hand over the cart, never once pausing to consider why she might be moving slower than most shoppers. Her behavior was rude, unkind, and thoughtless. Aldi, I urge you to reconsider April’s position. She does not represent your values or your loyal customers well. After today, I’m seriously considering taking my business to the new WinCo closer to me instead of driving thirty minutes from South San Tan Valley to shop...
Read moreNo matter what life puts you through you still must go out into the world. I get up and put on a good attitude and I walk outside with the hope that I receive the same energy that I give but today at your Queen Creek, AZ store as I was bagging the few items I purchased, your store associate spoke very harshly at my elderly mother who has Alzheimer's disease. Besides the kid screaming we took all the focus. She wanted to make sure my mother didn't run off with the other cart. I imagine that she wanted so badly to have that cart for the next customer but in a way didn't mind rudely embarrassing and humiliating an elderly woman with Alzheimer's disease. Even if you didn't know she had Alzheimer's, a quarter cart is not worth ignoring good customer service. Yes, I'm partial because it's my only mother. I care and protect her and just for that moment, I want others to treat her as if they care. In the meantime, I won't shop at ALDI, and my mother who asked for a trip to your store has better memories of the ALDI store she used to shop in her hometown a few years ago. She was disappointed with the service as well. I hope this review is understood and evaluated a few layers deeper than just on the surface. Sometimes it's how you say things. Thank you...
