I typically never write bad reviews and donāt even know if this is worth writing however in regards to how I was made to feel, I do feel the need to speak up. I come to this Costco all the time and have usually had my own account on a family plan but we recently made some changes due to me getting ready to move to another state, so I was removed off the plan and my younger sibling in college, was placed on. Therefore, any time I go to Costco, I go with my mom who is the listed primary on the account. (Iām aware of the rules they have in place before anyone feels the need to mention this to me). On this day in particular, my mom was not feeling well on this date and asked me to go to Costco with her card for essential items we needed. Again, I know their rules but due to her being sick and not having another option I decided to go. Once I got to the register for checkout, (unfortunately I did not get the employeeās name), I was rudely met by an employee. As upon initial greeting, she did not even respond and she immediately seemed annoyed with me. As she scanned the barcode for the membership, she then took the card from my hands and looked at the ID (which again was my mom!) and stated loudly āThis does not look you !ā Upon initial embarrassment, and just simply wanting to purchase the items and go as this was raising my anxiety, I stated that it was me in an effort to just pay and leave. The employee then huffed and asked for some form of ID. I only had my insurance card and showed that it had matching last names to the primary on the account (which again is my mom). I then had to take my items to the supervisor side of the store where they continually asked me questions and proceeded to keep trying to confirm the membership. To clarify, I do understand Costcoās membership rules and so my issue is not about them telling me that I didnāt have a membership. My issue was the manner in which it was done, and I literally began to feel myself having a panic attack in the middle of the store as multiple supervisors were called. I highly regret coming to the store at all, and had my mom not been sick I would have never even came alone. One of the supervisors then tried to offer me ice cream (because to my embarrassment I began to cry and feel overwhelmed with the entirety of the situation and people staring) and he did apologize for the behavior of the aforementioned employee and then allowed me to pay for the items and leave, again re-stating that I would need to be placed back on to the family plan to shop there. I know Costco has strict rules about membership plans which I get, but to make shoppers feel as though their less than human, and in the manner in which it was handled was why I felt the need to leave this review. I have seen a multitude of shoppers use other peopleās cards that are not even related to them, and so the initial hostility I was met with in the midst of other shoppers, was extremely mortifying. I will not be returning to this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSorry guys, I was supposed to change this to a 5 star 1 month after my initial review so I'm sorrythats my bad, I was jist mad because I thought I was getting targeted, but I wasn't this was done to everyone. Also after signing up everyone has been super nice and amazing! Def the best costco for sure! I'm honestly still baffled that this happened today. We have been coming to Costco since it opened we don't come very often because we have a small family, but my grandpa let's us use his costco card because as a trade off we go shopping for them since they are older. Haven't had an issue until today, I got there at 3:00pm and we needed big things like diapers for our babies and some other items that we needed, after shopping for an hour and a half I saw the 2nd register opened I thought, there was two ladies one was Kelly and I didn't get the other ones name but she was wearing a long sleeve aqua shirt, I didn't realize that me asking if the lane was opened because they were just gossiping for 2 minutes like actual 2 minutes, this is why I'm giving time stamps so if you have security cameras there you can see all this happen. I must have hit a nerve because they didn't say two words just kept talking to each ither and proceeded to throwing items from the cart onto the conveyer belt well they asked for the card as usual and my granpas middle name is John and Kelly looked up at me with an attitude and just said you don't look like John, so I proceeded to tell her that it's my grandpa, she didn't say anything and called someone from her mic is what I just got out of it since Paul came over and started asking me questions. He proceeded to telling me that I can't use the card because it's not under my name, that's fine I understand how a membership works but the fact that I was there for two hours and I even brought up that if it was going to be an issue why did they let me in? It wasn't busy when I first got there and I showed the card with the picture when I walked in? Paul explained to me that, that is what a membership is for that's what memebers pay for which okay I understand but then he proceeded to say if you had less stuff like 1 to 4 items we could make an exception. So essentially my time doesn't matter? And they would make exceptions for certain cases but my 2 hours that ibjust wasted there isn't a good case? Yea they said they could sign me up for a membership but why would I want to sign up with that kind of service and treatment? I would have honestly signed up if they handled this differently I just cant believe I wasted 2 hours then having to go to another store to get everything we needed. Kelly I'm sorry that I interrupted your conversation I didn't realize that the gossip about your co workers was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Queen Creek AZ Costco is the absolute worst store in the state. The location has been in operation for almost a year, and I have had 3 horrible experiences already.
Last night, I went in to pick up a few things that I needed. The location is super convenient for me (less than 2 miles away from my house). All the items that I needed were in my cart and I headed towards the front to check out. The lines were relatively short, and I noticed 3 open registers in self-check-out. This is where I encountered Chris, the Costco employee on a power trip.
As I was close to one of the open registers, I heard Chris say, "oh sorry the line starts right here," pointing right by his side. There was one customer there with their cart waiting. I mentioned the 3 open registers and I wasn't cutting the line. He then demanded that I show my Costco ID before I could check out. They didn't ask for this in the beginning, when the store opened, at self-check-out and then they started doing it a few months later. Eventually this practice went away, and it had been at least 6 months since the last time I was asked to present ID to use the self-check-out.
I showed my ID, and he examined it longer than necessary. It made me feel like a criminal and really undervalued my membership at this club. Is it worth it anymore? The savings are minimal, but I have always enjoyed Costco for the quality of products and service that I receive. Chris slowed down the process and made it a frustrating trip to Costco.
As I was checking out, I looked at him and he gave me a smug condescending look as if he was proud of what he had done to me. This guy needs training in customer service. He should have been aware that there was not a need for a line since 3 registers were ready with lights lit indicating availability. Unfortunately, he had an agenda and he "got me".
After 3 horrible experiences at this location (in less than a year), I have decided to now do my Costco shopping at the location in Chandler, near where I work. It is not convenient for me, but the employees there have never made me feel unwanted. Queen Creek Costco has a huge gap in customer service provided compared to the other location in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Customers should not have to pay an annual membership to be treated like this. Chris needs some additional training. The crazy thing is, that he isn't young at all and should have already developed solid customer service skills. Hopefully it isn't too late for his development.
Very disappointing that my home Costco doesn't want me. Very...
