Ground Zero Hobby — Local services in Ralston

Ground Zero in Ralston WAS my favorite comic book store in the Omaha area - with the keyword there being WAS. I spent a ton of time and more importantly, a ton of money there. However, with some recent events taking place, I won't be returning or spending another dollar there. First of all, the store manager Andrew was an absolute gem and by far not only the best comic book store worker in Omaha but the best I've ever met. He was nice and accommodating to everyone, a rarity in that industry. However, I recently found out that he was forced to quit because of being denied a raise (which was not a ton of money in the first place). A horrible business decision by the owner there, to save a little bit of money by compromising your own store and customers. Finally, as a bit of icing on the cake, I've recently noticed that the store owner puts a $10 dollar price tag on ALL 'variant' covers of new comics. These are not ratio variants that are rarer, but simply B and C covers that can be found for cover price at any other store in town. It's absolutely a deceptive business practice that lies to and gouges customers. Couple that with the fact no effort was made to keep their best employee and I will not be spending any more time or money here. And I...

Came in for an exclusive item that was listed today. Tried to message on Facebook and call the store to reserve it, but they weren’t taking reservations. First come, first serve was the message.

I drove there to try and get the item, and when I got there I was told it was reserved. The buyer walked in and had a full discussion that the only reason he reserved it is because he had an employee’s personal number, and that employee went “over the head” of the manager on duty. The manager’s words, not mine. Yet they still held it and sold it to this guy.

Stores like this are keeping scalpers alive by giving favors to certain people. I’ve spent hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars at your store and will be taking my business elsewhere from now on.

Found an exciting amount of comic books and the only place I can ever come to get IBC Sodas. I will say the lady at the register was a bit terse. My fiancé reached to grab a comic, another comic fell, nothing was bent/ruined/etc and before she had even come over to look at the comic that had fallen (bc I do understand if they’re ruined they won’t sell) she was raising her voice, and then the entire cashing out process she had a condescending tone.
