1st experience was a to go order at 1130am for lunch. Seemed a little overpriced for a on special cheeseburger that was simply bland. Next visit was for a retirement party for a coworker. I'm sure when the person reserved the couple tables when calling was informed of the automatic gratuity, although not informing people attending, there isn't (as can be seen in the pictures of the menu on Google) any notation about an automatic gratuity (which I have no problem being added ,but with there stupid electronic handheld ordering devices, you don't see it until after paying and signing when they print you out a copy, but when signing there's automatic percentage to choose, all were extremely low, so I added a custom tip of 18 percent) which ended up being at 38 percent tip. FOR THE WORST SERVICE EVER. BESIDES NO SERVICE ACROSS Q STREET AT ANOTHER LOCAL ESTABLISHMENT. Our waiter was spinning around, literally, in circles in the spot he was standing after taking a few peoples "drink orders". One of my coworkers paid cash and tipped for every beer (3) he had and no food. Waiter took so long (and walked away after taking coworkers last beer order without taking his cash, and didn't come back to the table by the time he finished and had to leave. My coworker left cash and tip. Waiter came back after taking the cash saying the coworker who left still had a tab of 12 some $'s still owed. Normally I would have flipped out at this point, just as a few other people were about to, but the guest of honor (who the waiter rudely went to and told and gave a tab too) loves the establishment and didn't want to cause any drama, paid for it, (after paying her own tab after having to have it corrected because of random drinks and food items on it she never ordered). The waiter would take an order and didn't deliver any food or drinks (orders). The bartenders would and even the kitchen staff. When the party hit max occupancy (10 people, although there was an average of 5 rotating for a quick drink) our table (s) had random drinks and shots being delivered to it, that no one ordered and I'm sure(after reading a couple of the recent lower reviews) someone or somones of our party paid for them. I wasn't going to leave a review bc the request of the guest of honor, but reading other people's reviews and having my parents neighbors tell me a similar experience, I feel I need to. There's also a charge for "to go" equipment/containers/service (one of those) that's not stated on the menu and when you call in the order they do not inform you of it. To the plus, although the burger was bland , I've had worse, but everything else I ate was great, surprisingly the best was the basic looking pizza, which was great during the party, and even better the last 2 times I had it to go. - which is what made me find the the extra charge, because when I called in the order the incompetent thieving employee that took the order told me my total would be the exact menu price of the carnivore pizza, 16.49$. No tax and obviously no bs "container" or whatever surcharge (learn to calculate that into the price you charge of your food or make sure it's an absolute policy your incompetent thieving staff makes it clear that it's a policy and charge) The pizza i love alone and was a huge hit with 5 other people i shared my last one with, but reading similar bad experiences and how much unstated extra charges there are I find it hard to order again or recommend it to anyone without giving a warning. Good food, had almost every appetizer, (bland) cheese burger, pizzas, pork tenderloin sandwich (btw calling something a donut when your hours of service are lunch and dinner and people want savory food ( minus dessert) when all of your staff explains it a hush puppy call it that or something else, I get it's uniqueness but maybe in description, which is very lacking on the menu items, can have "fried like a donut" but don't have staff say "it's basically a hush puppy" over and over bc "donut" was the wrong choice to help your unique item stand out,...
Read moreHonestly what drew me to 72 Table and Tap was the Fat Elvis burger. A burger with peanut butter, jelly, bacon, and fried bananas? Sold. So I went in expecting this to be a similar atmosphere and experience to Tap House, where I’ve had equally unique craft burgers concoctions. I was pretty off going in with that mindset. While the food is that of a craft burger joint, the atmosphere may make you think you accidentally walked into DJ’s Dugout or Big Red Keno. Which is fine, just not what I had expected.
For food we got the hog fries appetizer - fries topped with pepperjack queso, bacon, pulled pork, and scallions. I say “topped” and not “loaded” because I only wish there had been more. The fries definitely outnumbered the toppings. Load. That. UP! The pepperjack queso was awesome. I also got the Fat Elvis Burger I went for which was expectedly sticky, messy, and delicious. Excellent craft burger creation. My S.O. got the Boss Hog - a pork tenderloin sandwich breaded in goldfish and topped with american cheese, bacon, an egg, onion, and lettuce. Normally he doesn’t go for the pork tenderloin because he thinks chicken fried steak is vastly superior but he loved this sandwich. He got onion rings, I got waffle fries. Both good bar food sides.
For drinks we got the “Tropical Tea” - Absolut vodka, lemonade and cranberry juice as well as the “Mango Rumrita” - Malibu Mango and lime juice in addition to a Moscow Mule. All three were great. The $2 off cocktails during happy hour from 3-6pm every day made those even better.
The service was a little slow. We found ourselves waiting to eat or without drinks multiple times as we waited for refills, napkins, ranch, ketchup, etc. and often having to ask twice. I had to remind myself I was in more of a DJ’s atmosphere, not a Dante’s. Also the music... I normally don’t notice. But this playlist was distractingly awful and loud. It can only be described as the scene nearing the end of any standard 90’s high school or college movie where the protagonist is driving in the rain extremely upset because their whole world fell apart, right before they have their epiphany of how to fix everything and turn their life back around. I deemed it the “Whiny 90’s” playlist. So not upbeat or background noise at all. They had a touch screen music system where you could change the song, but it only lasted for that one song before it went right back to the standard playlist.
So personally for me the music, the service, and the atmosphere wouldn’t have me going back. For me, the experience is just as important as the food. But given that the food was pretty delicious, we may make a second run. We’ll just...
Read moreI waited until I cooled down to do this review. The extra star is for great food. The low rating is due to the bartender who took my order over the phone and told me to be there in 20 minutes. We waited 25 minutes after arriving, then she tried to tell me they were busy, but everyone else was complaining about slow service too. This means, the kitchen was overloaded and nobody did anything except panic and made everyone wait too long. I was given half of an apology but no attempt to make it better. We were given our food after 50 minutes had gone by but we were missing two items of the 7 we ordered. Worst experience ever at a place I have been many times, but why would I go back now? Omaha needs business owners that care about customers who support local small businesses. You deserve this type of review from everyone in your establishment last night: Don't have a sale on wings if your staff can't handle the volume that brings. This is the first time I have ever needed to say something because of how I was treated for ordering $72 worth of food. The kitchen gave me the missing food and a full apology, but still missing an explanation of why my "large" order was less important than everyone else's. Almost like it was my fault for having a family of 7. Only 4 of us ordered wings, so their argument about "busy wing night" still doesn't make that much sense to me. Getting tired of being treated like I don't matter or my money isn't important. This shouldn't happen, but there should be...
