I love supporting local businesses and being able to spread a good word. I am all about giving second chances because I know every night can be different in the service industry and you never know if they are struggling or short staffed but this night was just unacceptable. We got treated like we were a nuisance and inconvenience. I wish I could give this place a second chance but I don’t think I can. The atmosphere is cozy and the decor is beautiful this place has so much potential. The food was great, salsa was awesome. The service was not. It started out great and then went downhill. We had 5 adults and four children. So a pretty large group. The restaurant was not busy. Our server seemed very frazzled from the beginning she was closing out another party so I understood that. We had to repeat our drink orders multiple times and when my sister asked for a virgin margarita (because she is pregnant), the waitress shook her head and seemed very annoyed. After about 30 minutes we put in our food orders and it took an hour and 20 minutes to receive our food which came out incorrect. My two boys got their meals as we were waiting for the check about to leave. We had to tell our server that they didn’t get their meals, she didn’t even check on us or realize they didn’t receive their meals. My husband was supposed to get the chicken and steak dinner but got fajitas instead. We didn’t bother saying anything until the end when my boys finally got their food. Which he had already ate the fajitas because almost an hour had passed and he was hungry and we knew it would be a while. She told him “well I didn’t force him to eat it”. We had to ask for everything. Flag them down for margaritas and waters. Walk up to the counter for boxes and our checks. There were multiple employees and the tables around us were empty. It was so confusing. Together Our bill was almost two hundred dollars for all of us and they offered nothing for the horrible service. It was just awful and my cousin was in town visiting from another state and I’m embarrassed that she had to see this in our hometown. Mexican food is our “go to” and we have never experienced something like this before. I have been a server myself and had horrible days but I always tried to make it right in the end. They don’t want customers, they want to clock out and go home. I am writing this because I hope they make some changes for themselves and for the...
Read moreOverall they serve 3 (cuz of the chips & overall cost) to 5 star food as long as you don't mind the $$$$ out of 5 (5 $ symbols being highest) expense. *NOTE: the salsas, esp if/when dining in, would make it worth the price
The prices, which seem high, may be because of covid-19. I am not sure because I've not ate here before. *NOTE: There was a small $0.45 to go charge added to the bill. *ADD'L NOTE: I believe in this current times of covid-19 that tipping is good and I did tip 20% of my total bill *ADD'L ADD'L NOTE: once this place reopens, it has a splendid atmosphere with numerous decorations and without a doubt a pizzazz becoming of a fine eatery.
The $3.75 carnitas taco was awesome! the meat is so delicious it is without a doubt a perfect moist blend of spiced meat and yet mild flavor.
The flavor of the $10 appetizer ceviche is good. Seems a little bit over priced for what you get, but while it is not great, it is good.
The various salsas (all included "free") are wonderful. Specifically the green enchilada cream sauce is out of this world and I've never tasted such a paprika dark hot sauce that was so needing to be drank let alone chip-dipped-awesome!!!! I am very excited about their paprika dark hot sauce, because in all of my life I've never ever ever ever tasted one as good as this... As a matter of fact I've normally avoided the paprika heavy salsa like the plague. The normal mild salsa is ok.
The tortilla chips (aka totopos) (included possibly "free" with the purchase of the ceviche) are not good. They are what one may call chalky and not the greatest. They taste generic store bought, and have that chemical taste that you may or may not be familiar with.
The margarita price ($11.75) is pricey, but does taste good and NOT too sweet as some bars tend to over sweeten with the mixer, effectively killing the flavor & reducing alcohol
In summary, a good place that I will return & eat at, and by the picture you can tell I ate everything except the... totopos.
Sidenote: during these times of covid-19, it is more understandable... But I do wish they had offered a military or 1st responder or mission...
Read moreThe art work in this restaurant is exemplary. The setting is unique, colorful, and lively. My partner and I spent a good amount of time talking about how great some of the artwork looked. When it comes down to food, I would say it’s mediocre. There is no flare or anything special about the food. To begin, we were served chips and salsa. The chips were nice and crunchy and quite authentic. The salsa on the other hand was very bland and lacking of any spice or flavor. I’d say it’s synonymous to the Tostitos salsa you can buy at a grocery store for a few dollars. Along with the salsa they accompanied a mayo type dip which was not very good at all. Service was fairly decent, neither quick or too slow. I ordered the fajita mix and it did not take very long to arrive. The fajita mix was accompanied by a plate of refried beans, pico de gallo, a big glob of sour cream, and rice. The fajitas themselves weren’t anything unique or special, the flavor was typical of any other Mexican restaurant that serves the same dish. There was plenty of food on my plate though, enough for me to have to ask for a box to take some home. I was kind of disappointed that the fajitas did not include any spicy salsa with them. The waitress only approached our table once after we were almost done with our meals, by that point it wasn’t really worth asking for some salsa. That was somewhat disappointing. Overall this is a great place to sit down and have a decent Mexican dish. The setting is amazing and deserving of an award. The food is ok, but fails to live it to the liveliness of it’s artwork. Overall I’d say this...
