RUN AWAY!!!!PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE IMAGES I SAHRED AND THE TIME ON READING THIS FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN ENROLLING THE SURGICAL TECH PROGRAM.
This program is not being failed by the students — it is being failed by the program director. She gaslights, manipulates, and sabotages students while using reverse psychology to break people down. The coursework itself is not the challenge; the director is. She will do everything possible to make your life a living hell, and it’s clear she enjoys watching students struggle.
There is blatant favoritism. One student was allowed to repeat the exact same exam multiple times until she passed, while the rest of us were forced to take altered, far more difficult exams that led to repeated failure. She will have you study endlessly, only to walk in on exam day and announce that the test has changed and nothing you studied will be on it. Many students have had to retake this course up to five times, which is not normal in any legitimate program.
Her behavior is not limited to exams. She makes frequent visits to the lab only to belittle, discourage, and talk down to students as if we are stupid. She treats everyone with open disrespect. She has openly told students that they will never earn higher than a 70, subconsciously programming failure into their minds before they even begin. When one student is caught cheating, she punishes the entire class instead of holding that individual accountable.
Her conduct has also been reckless. I personally witnessed her aggressively shove a student’s mayo stand containing sharp blades, which could have bounced back and caused serious injury. This is not only unprofessional, it is dangerous.
Instead of resolving her own personal issues, she has turned into a destructive bully who takes out her frustrations and bitterness on her students. This is not education — it is abuse of authority and academic abuse.
Exams are intentionally made unnecessarily difficult and changed frequently, creating an atmosphere of confusion and fear. Last term, nearly every student failed, with only two moving forward. To “correct” this imbalance, the director staged what she called a make-up opportunity. Students were led to believe they would have a real chance to improve their grades; however, once seated, she announced that no more than a quarter-point per question would be awarded—something never disclosed beforehand. It became clear this was not about helping students succeed but about creating the illusion of fairness while selectively advancing a small number of students. In my view, this is deeply unethical and a disturbing misuse of authority.
The environment is so toxic that some professors reportedly avoid entering the building while she is present waiting in their cars until she leaves. That alone speaks volumes about the culture being fostered here.
If this let me program were led by Mr. Chambers, Ms. Ruiz, or Professor Lara, it would be a completely different experience. Those three are the true assets and the face of the Surgical Technology program—supportive, professional, and committed to student learning. Under their leadership, there would be a lot fewer repeats and students would actually feel motivated to attend, learn, and progress.
Final Warning Please think a million times before enrolling....
Read moreDear Mr. Eastwick,
My name is Margaret Mitchell. I completed the CMA program July 19, 2019. Attending this program was both challenging and rewarding. I wanted to take this opportunity to inform you that Sheryl Raleigh was instrumental in having me enroll at Eastwick College.
I met Sheryl at Brady’s at the Station where I was employed part time as a hostess. We engaged in a conversation and she informed me that she was a teacher at Eastwick. I told her that I had just started the Boces phlebotomy program in Nyack, New York. She said that she teaches that as well. I confessed to her the program was difficult and I wasn’t sure I’d be successful at it. She encouraged me to “stay the course” and told me about the various programs offered at Eastwick and that I should consider continuing with a medical education at Eastwick. From that initial conversation, I discovered a person who had a deep interest in wanting to share her knowledge with others and I subsequently enrolled at Eastwick.
I am 4 years in recovery from alcohol and to say self-confidence is not my strong suit. I shared my story with Sheryl, my apprehension as a 53-year-old woman as being able to comprehend school work and take tests. She taught me to focus, encouraged me to work and study hard. She became an advocate for me, checking on my grades and my progress as a student.
I am sending this letter to you as an expression of my gratitude for all that Sheryl Raleigh has done for me and how Eastwick College has truly changed my life. It was a challenge and Sheryl helped me meet that challenge. Happily, I have completed the CMA program, finalized my resume, and am looking forward to employment in the medical field.
I will be forever grateful for having met Sheryl Raleigh who was certainly instrumental in helping me change the direction of my life. Thank you for allowing me to share this with you.
Very truly...
Read morePlease save your money and don't go here. There are better ultrasound/medical programs should you chose to go that path. Rutgers offers a phenomenal program I wish I would have known about before pouring my heart into Eastwick's CVs program. Teachers are extremely inappropriate, there always seems to be some weird relationships going on between students and teachers, and while they think its not obvious, I can certainly tell people are getting through by this happening. You also have to look at how slim the graduation rate is here. On a side note, I was a server in Ramsey, and professors would waltz into my job, have a few drinks, talk about the misconduct of their peers and bosses, and leave to go teach a class There's zero concept to having a "life", that simply does not exist as soon as you sign a form here. They will go to every length to make it as expensive as possible, as difficult as possible to return say if you need a leave of absence. There is no forgiveness should your kid be in the hospital, or your mother passes an hour before your lab class, nothing matters at all. There is no heart, no acceptance for the unexpected, they will simply fail you.
I had trouble because different departments would refuse to speak to each other over cat fights, they would ignore letters from my psychiatrist who was noticing significant weight loss in me, or straight up deny promises made in emails. If you are thinking of quitting your ultrasound program because you are worried about the environment, Eastwick has made it like that for you. Clinicals are different. There is something dehumanizing about the labs and classrooms at the college, the dullness in the professors, and their unwillingness to breed successful students. I expect a challenge, but I do not expect to be degraded, ingnored, or questioned based on how much money the college thinks I am making and whether l am worthy of being a...
