This place was agony from day one. Submit every document I needed a month in advance, ask frequently to see if they have all the documents they need, constantly told that someone would reach out to me, get yelled at a couple weeks into class because the documents I submitted were in a format they didn't like. School has three different calendars all with separate dates/times, none line up. School last minute schedules everything anyways and only informs you via word-of-mouth (no e-mails, no site calendar with concrete dates). Professors are dropping like flies; massive turn-around. Each new professor I receive doesn't know what the lesson plan is and class lecture barely lines up with the tests we're taking. Have multiple car-issues while attending but school is strict about missing class. Working minimum wage job barely pays for rent, food, and keeping the car working? They don't care. Have to be there every time or you're out. Get put on a leave of absence due to car issues. Come back and don't miss a day / be late for an entire level. Step-father suddenly develops rare cancer. Get call one day on the way to class that he has 24hrs to live. Get told basically that I can go home but I'll have to make the day back up. Going home doesn't matter, father lives out of state. Sit in class dealing with the agony/anger/sadness of grief. Get phone call near end of class. Father is dead. Someone breaks into my car and steals my backpack on the last week of the level. Get car repaired and buy back all my school supplies putting myself in massive credit-card debt. Also had to order a new uniform for the different class I was in, which was added to my school debt. Mechanic orders wrong part and has trouble installing part, causing me to miss class. Called and told I'm dropped from program. Go in next day to see someone in person. Sit in freezing lobby while sick. Just sitting there, on phone and waiting quietly. Police officer walks up and escorts me off premise. Treated like a criminal after getting my car broken into feels great. Call a week later because they still haven't given me any documents or a call to tell me what's going on. Call two weeks later because still no information. Call three weeks later because still no answer. Finally get paperwork. 9,000$ in debt now paying for this experience. Education I received at school? Doesn't apply to any program outside of it. Year of my life I gave to these people? Meaningless as well. 9,000$ of my future? Should have taken a loan and lit it on fire, would have been more cost-efficient. Appreciation that I sacrificed my future and gave these people jobs for a year of my life? Not there.
Place re-instatement letter. Big surprise, takes a month to get any response back. Told I'm "lack engagement" even though I had to stop myself from answering questions in class so other people could and was the first one to step up and help all my instructors / people at the facilities we were studying in. Told I was "unwilling to accept feedback" even though I was constantly using whatever new app / study technique / homework requirement they decided to last minute drop on us (and they were constantly changing expectations and what they wanted from us). Was told I didn't acknowledge my mistakes in the letter, even though I apologized for my truancies caused by my car and that I was making every effort for it not to happen again.
TL;DR: They're just in it for the money, and they don't care AT ALL what you're going through on your end. Don't waste 9000$ of your future on these people. You can pay literally anyone else who will respect you, your time, and...
Read moreThank you, CNEI! I was very impressed with the Alcohol & Drug Addiction Counseling (ADAC) Program I just completed at CNEI. Chris Tannahill, our instructor, was fantastic! He is very knowledgeable and experienced in recovery and emergency response and is a great person. He knows how to educate through instruction of course material, interactive group role-play and scenarios, and homework assignments that made me consider the best approach for my current and future clients. Through his teaching skills, he uniquely educates and empowers others to reach their full potential. Chris's philosophy and approach to educating others are genuinely remarkable. He treats each student in class as an individual who brings different levels of professional experience, education, and personal traits. He has a gift for personalizing the learning process for each student in a manner that encourages students to develop their skills. He focuses on students' experiences and strengths to motivate them to evolve and learn in the areas where they require guidance and support. In addition to traditional content instruction, Chris provides a collaborative environment for authentic feedback from himself and my classmates. The ADAC program has given me a broad understanding of the addiction treatment field and the 12 core competencies of an Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Chris has taught me essential skills, including screening and assessment, intake and orientation, regulations, reporting and record-keeping, treatment modalities and counseling, case management, crisis intervention, and client education. The classes all contained guest speakers who were professionals in the recovery field. Learning from these experts and connecting with them for future opportunities was invaluable. Initially, I was concerned about taking the program online, but it was never an issue. I was able to forge excellent relationships with classmates. The encouragement and support from my peers in class were also beneficial and greatly appreciated. Throughout the five courses, students were encouraged to share experiences that they encountered at the treatment facilities where they work. This enabled us to understand and share our methods of dealing with real-life situations. The CNEI program also evolves. The curriculum covers the requirements for a student to take the ICRC exam. Still, it also covers new relevant topics, approaches, and theories, as well as evidence-based research that has been published recently. I highly recommend this program to any RADT or RAC who wants to further their career with state certification. I also want to thank the team of professionals at CNEI: Jeff, Amber, Luis, Edwina, Bridget, Rebecca, and Chris. You all made my educational experience beneficial and...
Read moreI just want to say that I have been wanting to attend this school for like 10 years. Due to work and kids, I couldn't afford to quit work and go to school during the day. I decided to call about 3 weeks ago and inquire about night classes. To my surprise, they were about to start a night program for LVN. I quickly went into the school and spoke with Edwina who gave me information about the course. Well, all I can say is that everyone is absolutely AMAZING! From Jeff to Edwina and everyone else that works here. I passed my entrance exam and I start class in September! Although it is a bit expensive, I am sure it will be totally worth it in the end.
Update 11/01/2022 Ive been attending for 1 month and so far everything has been great! Definitely not easy but it was to be expected. If you have an I don't care attitude, then this isn't for you. This is a fast-paced program so you must be on top of your game.
Also, the review from "Brent" down below is IMO a very negative one. To say that people "who cannot make it to a university" and people "who arent very sharp attend this school" is not very nice. For some people, this is their best option, either because of work or kids or because it might be cheaper than attending a university. Just because you attend a vocational school doesn't mean you aren't bright.... just like if you attend a university doesnt necessarily mean you are the smartest cookie. It all depends on the amount of effort you put into...
