Atelier I Gallery Tattoo Studio — Local services in Red Bank

I can’t recommend Atelier and Ivan enough, I had an incredible experience and am absolutely in love with my new tattoo! Contacting Ivan for the booking was easy to do, as he was responsive, prompt, and had a surprising amount of availability in the near future so I did not have to wait long. It was easy to make my deposit online through Clover. We chatted back and forth about my tattoo inspirations and I was able to send him some material for the design which he clearly took time to look at and researched to draw from when making the design. Ivan was very communicative throughout the entire process and made sure I knew exactly where the studio was and how to access the free parking in the back (which is important in Red Bank!).

The day of my tattoo I brought my partner, who Ivan completely accommodated, and he talked through how he had come up with the design before revealing it to me. I was floored by how beautiful it was and how it perfectly fit the area of my arm it would be on. He allowed me to ask for any final changes (I asked for a little beard to be added on the unicorn) and then gave me some time to walk around town while he made the stencil. Then it was tattoo time!

Ivan was a perfectly professional tattoo artist, supplied good tunes, a calm and private atmosphere, and chill vibes. He let my partner sit right next to me so we could talk through the more painful parts so I was distracted. Ivan let both of us know what he was going to be doing and then reminded us throughout so we would be updated when he finished different stages. The tattooing lasted about 8 hours and we took two long breaks and a few shorts breaks for water and that sort of thing.

Once the tattoo was complete, Ivan cleaned me up and took some videos and pictures for his social media as well as some pictures on my phone. I couldn’t believe how good my tattoo looked, it was almost like a sticker! Then he put derm shield on my tattoo and explained the aftercare process in an entertaining fashion, I paid, and then I went on my way.

It’s been about five days now and the tattoo is healing extremely well. Ivan even followed up with me a few days later to see how my tattoo was doing and see if I was having any issues or questions. I am very confident in the longevity of the tattoo, as I know someone who has a five year old tattoo from Ivan and it still looks new.

Overall, I would say that Atelier is the place to go if you want an extremely well done tattoo that will last you for the rest of your life, done in a comforting and chill environment by an artist that obviously cares deeply...

If I could give Ivan and his shop 10 stars, I would. I cannot say enough good things here. This is how everyone’s tattoo experience should be. The shop itself is immaculate and modern, yet still has a comfortable and relaxing vibe. Make no mistake, this is not your average tattoo parlour. There are no books of tattoos to choose from, nor designs to pick off the wall. Sessions are by appointment only. As the name suggests, this is an art gallery and you are there to have art placed on your body. Ivan is an insanely good artist, just look up his work. He has a very deep background in art and tattooing. I particularly loved how Ivan is very detail oriented. I sent him an idea I had for a tattoo with some images but no clue how I could put it together. Ivan did his research into the characters and story, and the image he presented on the day of my session did not disappoint. It was even better than I had hoped! Ivan spent time talking to me about how he came up with the design, how he thinks the elements best fit a certain way and color scheme, and then presented his ideas on placement and size. The whole process was fantastic, and he was very open to any input I had. Ultimately, I just trusted his judgement on most things and I am glad I did. Ivan is super friendly and easy to get along with, which is good because you will likely be there a long time. He was happy to talk, but also totally fine to just concentrate on his work in silence. I didn’t feel any pressure to do either one which made me relaxed. Sometimes we talked, but for a lot of it I just did my own thing while he worked. This was my first session in this gallery with Ivan and I have already booked another for September to finish my arm. Going forward, if possible I will get all my tattoos with Ivan. Ivan’s tattoo skills are exceptional, but what truly sets him apart is his exceptional character. During my tattoo session, I felt like I was in the presence of a genius as he meticulously explained the execution process.

Ivan cares more about creating long-term relationships over short-term profits. Despite the 4.5-hour duration of the session, he only charged me for 3 hours. This not only demonstrates his dedication but also ensures that I receive a high-quality tattoo at a fair price. Ivan went above and beyond by spending extra time on the tattoo to ensure its perfection and adding additional designs that I loved.

I am incredibly grateful for Ivan’s exceptional work. The aesthetics of his shop are modern, clean, and calming, creating a relaxing atmosphere for the tattooing experience. Throughout the session, he played soothing hip-hop instrumentals and lofi beats, which helped to reduce stress and enhance the overall enjoyment of the process. Ivan also took the time to educate me on proper tattoo care, providing me with detailed instructions on how to protect and maintain my new ink. This level of attention to detail is rare among artists, and I feel truly fortunate to have had Ivan as my tattoo artist.
