I don't think I have ever had a dining experience start so well and then go so south so quickly. We went to the bar on a Saturday afternoon at 4:00 pm to enjoy a night off from parenting with a couple we are friends with. My wife and I arrived first, and our bartender Kristen (I believe) was incredibly pleasant and welcoming. By the time our friends arrived, a new bartender started serving us, a young and a bit ditzy but very nice. We ordered three appetizers and then I asked for a round of shots, and she recommended one we tried and enjoyed. I then asked for a seltzer water and then a bourbon shot for me and my friend. At this point we were all feeling loose and laughing and enjoying ourselves, but were anything but rowdy.
A jerry curl rocking barback or manager gets our bartenders attention, whispers something to her, she nods, and after that she never asked if we wanted another refill at all. So we were obviously flagged. After about six drinks in two hours time. Are you serious?
To add insult to the injured pride, we ask to be seated to eat in the bar area since it was warm out and I didnt feel like sweating in my food. Our waitress, Kate, was a nightmare. Our wives asked for an extra minute to decide what to eat, and she practically stormed off. I look over my shoulder and she is tight lipped whispering to one of the other servers rolls her eyes and motions over to our table. She was unpleasant for the rest of the dining experience, short on soeech and quick to get us up and out. I can't remember the last time I was this upset with the service fromna waitress. We were obviously not young, thin, or rich enough for their taste at this place, something I should have picked up on by the style of shorts they make the female bartenders wear, effectively rammed up their backsides. Giving two stars for efforts and congeniality of the first two bartenders and the quality of the food which was pretty good, but the service ruined...
Read moreLast night after my boyfriend was done his job, we decided we wanted to grab a quick bite to eat before our hour drive back home. Being unfamiliar with the area I looked on google to see where the good eats were in Red Bank, and happened to stumble upon your place. The menu looked great, and I was starving at this point. Parking was horrible, but that's besides the point. My boyfriend and I walked up to the door and was greeted by this wonderful bouncer. He asked us for our identification, which was expected. We had our IDs in hand, and without question gave them to the guy. This is where I begin to have an issue. He then has the audacity to ask me if I had a credit card to back up my ID. Okay. I have worked in the restaurant industry, in a few high end places, and never once have ever seen a bouncer ask someone for a credit card as well. Not to mention he was extremely condescending about doing so. Making me feel as though your establishment didn't want my business for some absurd reason. Perhaps it was because of my old hoodie I threw on to walk from the car to the door because it was chilly.. to be honest I don't know. And I walked back to my car to grab a credit card to validate who I was. Just to pretty much make the dude feel like an idiot. Then to top it all off, when I walked in I was repulsed by how dirty the place was, and turned around and walked out. It seems to me like your place is ran by nothing more than mediocre staff that has no desire to make people feel welcome. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I've never felt...
Read moreRed Rock is awesome, and it'll definitely be one of my regular spots when I move into the area. Most recently, I came here for lunch. This was my first time getting food here, and it was fantastic.
First off, I love the space here. There's multiple levels of outdoor areas, and they're all nice to hang around. The inside is nice as well, with plenty of TV's for sports watching. On this visit, we sat inside to catch the Yankees / Orioles game (no game audio). I started with the wings - I tried both the teriyaki and the buffalo. The wings were perfectly cooked, not overdone like many bar wings. Juicy yet crispy at the same time, and the sauces brought them to another level of good. These are definitely in my top 5 wings in the area. For my main, I got the Brussel Caesar Salad and I'm very glad I did. The bacon lardons and the shaved brussels sprouts really added some great flavor to what's normally a very simple salad. Portion size was perfect, and I was impressed. I also got to try some of the sweet potato fries. I don't normally like sweet potato fries, but I enjoyed these and that's saying something.
Overall, Red Rock gets a great review from me - from the space and atmosphere, to the food, to the drink selection I'm...
