Sun Valley Supermarket — Local services in Redford Township

(((Kind of lengthy but important)))

Accused of stealing on 5-15-2025... I pick up my medication at this location. Pharmacy and pharmacist are cool not the ones who made the accusation.

But I go to do a little shopping waiting in the meat department after talking to the butcher and I didn't want to hold on to my medication so I put it in my back pocket.

Once I get my cut of meat from the butcher I go to check out and then I'm stopped after making my purchases.

The Rent a cop said, "a customer thinks they saw you take something and put it in my back pocket. Do you got any meat in your pocket?"

We definitely have words...

And when the lame rent a cop ,with access to the camera via tablet, sees that it is just my medication without any apology they(he and the manager) just pretty much wave me to go. Of course I returned everything I purchased.

There are too many good major chain grocery stores out here to where you don't have to deal with these trashy City Spartan goods overpriced opportunistic GROSScery stores.

I live in the neighborhood and I'm a regular and of course I've never stolen anything from this store or any other store. That's beneath me and apparently Sun valley is too.

Get better security who are mindful and more detail oriented of the situation.

Let me reiterate... A customer thought I was taking something so I was stopped after I made my purchases

My first and last visit at this establishment. The store was clean and the cashier was polite and had good customer service. The Caucasian security guard(I believe he had tattoos)made my experience unpleasant. There was a gentleman and woman together, we actually entered the store behind one another. The woman was checking out and the man had a pop or something or some type of item in his hand. The security guard, alluded that the man stole the item. The man told the security guard that he came into the store with the item and to check the camera. The ARMED security guard very nasty, he advised he was gonna check the cameras. The customer was not nasy, but firm that he had not stolen the item. In short the security guard walked up the customer in an extremly intimidating manner and told the customer to go F himself. This was disgraceful behavior and to think my 8 year old son witnessed this. I understand the security guard has a job to do, but to accuse a person of stealing before knowing is terrible for business. Had I not been in a time crunch, I would of spent my over $100 somewhere else! I thought this would end up being my go-to grocery store. I'll never spend a dime...

I would like to start my review by making “fair and truthful” statements. Overall, the employees that I have encountered at SUN VALLEY have been very professional, diligent and courteous. My review/experience covers one particular cashier at SUN VALLEY; on aisle 15 next to the lottery machine ( the first register coming into the store). Another customer and myself where in line waiting to be served; I watched her scan the line and walked off ...she did not advise the customers she was “LEAVING or would be BACK”. Her poor deposition, communication and customer service skills ( along with her sloppy appearance) was horrible. I understand that typically the workers in the neighborhood stores are a reflection of the surrounding community. I hope SUN VALLEY will address this issue because one bad apple and all. I ask to speak with the manager; however, once I observed her disposition .....I realized that it’s all the same can of “ WORMS” Bottom line: HIGH PRICES ( not competitive with neighboring stores), Raunchy, cashiers that display unprofessional, uncourteous, demeanor with SUB PAR communication skills....
