I'm looking over the decent reviews with bewilderment. Redford Plaza has become a dump. Dirty, dingy, outdated and increasingly empty. It's nowhere near as decent as it was 20 years ago (but then again, neither is the city of Redford, in general.) Remember when there was a Blockbuster Video...a Hallmark store...a Bally Total Fitness...Henry Ford clinic...etc., etc. More and more the stores are becoming less 'name' recognized and more cheap/urban/rinky-dink, and attracting riffraff. It unfortunate that the Kroger left. In the 30+ yrs I've lived in the city, that was always a supermarket...but considering how run down it became, and who it was attracting in its final years, I'm actually glad it's gone.
Whoever owns this place needs to completely overhaul it, but I'm doubting that this happen, considering. Redford Plaza is a sad reflection of what the area is becoming, overall. If the owners are reading this review: DO SOMETHING. Renovate. Clean it up. Lure some more worthwhile stores. If Rainbow, Beauty supply, Dollar Tree and a check cashing place is the best you can offer the community, then perhaps the whole thing should just go.
Over the last 10-15 years, I have been generally avoiding this place. When I do occasionally patron one of its stores, it's because I need something in a hurry and I usually leave feeling underwhelmed/disgruntle. It's sad that as a long time resident of Redford, these days I'd rather do most of my immediate shopping at one of the Livonia shopping...
