I always recommend this gym to my friends because of its quality routesetting. However today’s experience with the staff was terrible. My friend injured her ankle from a climb and I went to search for the staff at the front desk. The previous staff member was always behind the desk however there was a shift change to a different staff member while we were climbing so I did not know who the current staff member was and she was not behind her desk so I spent over 5-10 minutes searching everywhere around the gym while my friend was in pain. After searching everywhere someone else that was climbing directed me to where the staff was and she was with her acquaintances or relatives at the workout area just talking to them. The staff member was not recognizable because she had normal clothes on. Once she realized my friend was hurt she spent another 5 minutes getting to the desk and searching for an ice pack that was barely cold (so I’m assuming it was in the fridge and not the freezer) and her clipboard to write an incident report. Once she found her clipboard she kept pausing while she was writing the report to make small talk that had nothing to do with the incident report. And when my injured friend asked for water they had none except having to go to the fountain which she obviously could not do. After spending another 15 min writing the incident report, I initiated to get my injured friend to the car and hurried the staff member to finish writing the incident report. Everything about today’s incident was handled in the worst way possible by the staff member. First, this is not the fault of the staff member but the management. They should at least have 2 staff members at all time so if one staff member is not behind the desk the other can always be there in case an incident occurs. Also the staff member should be recognizable clothes that shows they are a staff, not normal clothes that blend with climbers or people who came to just watch. This is a definite ground for a lawsuit for their poorly managed staff members especially for incidents like these where it should be handled in a timely and...
Read moreStaff needs to monitor children’s parties and make sure their chaperones are paying attention. It has been miserable coming here ever since school let out for the summer. Almost every day, this place is full of kids running around with little, to no, supervision. On multiple occasions, I’ve had kids stand under me while I’m on the wall, and I’ve had to shout down for them to get out of the way. One time, I was on a tough climb and about to slip at any moment, and a little girl stood right under me, staring off into nowhere. There was no adult watching her. At Hangar 18, staff is on top of it, and making sure no kids are on the mats unless they’re about to climb. On top of that, there have been several times where I’ve walked up to the wall, only for a kid to cut me off and hop on, forcing me to wait. This is a gym, not a playground. There should really be a cutoff time for when kids are allowed to be there. I’m a paying member. I doubt many of the people who are throwing these parties are. I do not pay $85 a month to have a hard time getting to climb, because the gym has been overrun...
Read moreI was having one heck of a week. The type where you feel like your kids' complaining sounds like nails on a chalkboard and the way your husband breathes makes you want to be institutionalized just for the vacation. I stumbled across this place and I am forever grateful for it. I haven't rock climbed since high school and man did it get my heart racing. I'm out of shape so I decided power yoga would be a better option. While it wasn't strength wise, it did force me to breathe and that exhale made me realize I do love my kids and husband. I even teared up because the instructor thanked me for putting myself first in this hour and she had no idea how badly I needed to hear that. I came back for a second session of yoga and decided I loved it. It's like working out really hard and then taking a nap with your friends afterwards while you unwind. I will continue to work on my climbing skills just in case I do get institutionalized, I'll be able to climb the wall and escape. There's also a weight room that is equipped with everything and not crowed like the other gyms in the city. 10 out...
