This store is so fun, and I love supporting small shops, especially local, so we bought a M&D shapes puzzle there a few days ago. The puzzle is supposed to announce the name of the shape when you place it in its correct slot -- activated by a light sensor. Unfortunately the light sensor did not work in our house. I guess our lighting sucks, but we even moved the puzzle to a few different places, and never got it to consistently work. Sometimes it wouldn't make sounds at all, other times it would name the wrong shape or name a shape when nobody was even around. We started calling it the demon puzzle because a slight breeze of someone walking past would set it off. Anyways, I took it back to the store and got an extremely rude reply from the manager (I believe) who proceeded to show me that all the pieces worked perfectly. And they did there. He made some snide remark about how "I don't know what the problem is..." proceeded to show me again..."Well... you need light for it to work." Thanks, buddy, for your condescending tone that clearly communicated you thought I was an idiot. I don't want a toy that requires the perfect conditions in order for it to work properly for my one-year-old. I don't want my child walking around thinking a circle is a trapezoid because they didn't understand they had to carry their puzzle to even lighting before using. Whatever, I'll take your store credit (despite the fact that I brought the receipt and bought it only a few days ago) and buy my very last Jax toy. Small shops are only special when the customer service is better than what you get from...
Read moreA store that is an awesome, friendly, personal experience. It's located in the heart of downtown Redlands, so there's also a nice charm surrounding it. Kids are welcome to "test out" and play with the toys on display which is great because you can see what will sustain your child's attention and imagination before you purchase. The toy selection moves beyond the typical action figures; etc...focusing on toys that really spark creativity and learning, as well as outdoor fun/sports and family interaction. The store owners regularly contribute to worthy causes in the community, and we often go in there just to browse and play and learn about new toys with no pressure (of course, this is our main go to when we do buy presents; etc.). Fun store, great people, great prices,...
