My wife and I wear silver armbands along with our wedding rings. Hers broke, so we took it to Tekin Bros because they have good reviews around the web. He quoted us $60 to repair it which I thought was ridiculous because we've had 3 repairs done to our armbands in the past for $20-$30. Unfortunately, we're 90 miles away from the places we used to get repairs done. He also pointed out that the new break was under 1cm from a previous break, so it would make it harder to repair. That seemed to make sense at the time so I agreed to pay $60 but let him know we needed it done within 8 days for a trip we were taking. Later on I started thinking that as long as he has the right equipment to hold the broken bit in place, it shouldn't really matter if the previous break happens to melt while he's soldering the new break. So charging 2-3 times as much because of that seems unreasonable. 7 days later I hadn't gotten a call that it was ready, so I called him. He didn't seem to remember me at all and took a few minutes to root around until he found my piece. I reminded him I needed it for a trip and that I actually needed to pick it up that day because we were leaving too early the next day to pick it up. He said he would work on it that day. A few hours later he called back and said his torch was too small to melt the solder! I would think someone good at jewelry repair would have known his torch was too small before he took my piece. If he had done the repair in a timely fashion instead of forgetting about it until I called, maybe I could have taken it somewhere else. So we didn't have the arm band for our trip. The only positive thing I can say about Tekin is they didn't charge me for the attempted repair, but they would have been really shady to try that.

We asked at Tekin if the arm band could be reinforced instead of just repaired and they said no. We'd been told the same by at least 2 other jewelers. However, we finally found a silversmith in Baldwin Park who was able to reinforce it with an extra band of metal and he charged way less than Tekin wanted for the simple solder. Seems that most jewelers would prefer to charge exorbitant amounts for repairs that don't last so you can come back and pay them again next time it...

John Tekkin and his family are incredible people. John is an expert in his craft and I consider him family. Where do I begin... I came into Tekkin Brothers back in July of 2017 looking to purchase a wedding ring. Since that time John and his family have gotten to know both me and my fiancée and I very well. In fact I have sent other close friends of mine his way to do for them exactly what he did for me! John and his family will always have a special place in my heart. We get so many compliments about the ring it’s unreal. The ring is absolutely stunning! My fiancée even went to John to get my wedding band and we got her wedding band from him as well! Such an excellent place and top notch everything!

I am going to just be short, honest and forthcoming. I would not even think about going to a different jeweler after being taken care of like Tekin Bros took care of me. I have bought my fiancée multiple pieces of jewelry over the years and all of them have left her speechless. Tekin has the most competitive prices around and they are family owned and family ran. (Just for a shout out, my fiancee wanted her wedding band soldered together with her engagement ring and we only had a 3 week window to get it done. Guess who dropped everything and assured us it would be done in time? Tekin Bros! I have looked up all the pieces I have bought at other stores and the prices are always better at Tekin Bros)
