If I could give negative stars, I would! I rarely write bad reviews because well, the world is already full of a ton of negativity but I feel that people should be forewarned. I went to the emergency room section (late night urgent care) of Swedish Redmond on August 26th 2018 because at 24 weeks pregnant I had mild abdominal pain that I was nervous about, I thought maybe I had a UTI. This is my first child so I am overly precautious and nervous.
I received the bill, TWO MONTHS LATER and they charged my insurance $2000 dollars for a 30 minute visit, with no blood work (I refused, thank god), a simple urine sample, vitals check as well as a fetal doppler to check the baby’s heart beat. This is scamming me!! This is what is WRONG with the insurance companies and hospitals, I shouldn’t have been charged so much for an office visit, even if it was in the emergency room when I wasn’t prescribed any follow up medication or appointments. My UTI test came back negative! The doctor (Alexandra Rackoff) only spoke with me for a mere 7 minutes of my 39 minute sit down time to make sure everything was ok!! I am absolutely livid. When I called to contest my bill, even the gentleman on the phone line agreed it was a bit of an exorbitant price tag. I was labeled a category 4 on their scale of 1-5 that they report to insurance companies. It’s unjust and NOT the level of care I expect to receive for such a price tag. I can understand a bit more of a hefty charge because it was emergency services but $2k??? Come on now, not everyone in the area is a CEO Microsoft executive and I’m sure even those lovely people would be appalled at such a price.
Another reason I am writing this review is because I came here for a specialist to look at my ankle in April 2018 because I had sprained it badly on a walk with my dog. I received great care and everything was wonderful until upon leaving. I was offered an ankle brace for my foot and when questioning what the price may be I was told that, “I can’t recall exactly, but I don’t think it is more than $30 dollars”. Ok, I can deal with that, fairly the same price at something from the drug store. AGAIN, I receive a bill about a month later than my initial visit. They want $60.00 for a brace that never even worked because it was improperly fitted. I called, AGAIN to contest. I never received a call back and I never received another bill. About 5-6 months later I receive a bill saying it’s a final notice and it will be going into collections for $80+ dollars, the brace and a surcharge for late payment. After much extreme deliberation and headache from calling with the company they billed, I was able to get a refund for the product.
This hospital and facility obviously just wants to take advantage of people and is everything that is currently wrong with healthcare in general. Unless you are short of death, I highly recommend you stay away from this hospital and search for...
Read moreThe speciality Dr's at Swedish are very nice and knowledgeable but it just blows my mind that they do zero testing at this facility. If I want to do anything other than blood work I have to drive all the way to Seattle or Issaquah which when you are disabled is not very easy to do. Ive asked why I'm not able to receive tests at the Redmond facility and I am told one of two things, "We aren't allowed to talk about it" or swedish is to under staffed to send out a technician to that location"??? Correct me of I'm wrong but if you are so busy that you don't have the man power, can't you just hire more medical professionals? It's not like you don't have the money to be able to do so. An example of this is I need to get a halter monitor put on to keep track of my heart and it's a very simple thing to do you put on sticky pads in the proper places and attach the wires which literally takes 5 minutes, but they cannot do this here because they have no trained technicians but yet the cardio nurse can preform an ECG/EKG which is the exact same thing just on a smaller scale for the halter monitor. They cannot even preform a simple heart echo which is just an ultra sound of your heart, why??? Because they have no technicians here and they do not come here. I'm beginning to feel that it's a $ game just more ways to squeeze us out of our hard earned cash. When I was going to Evergreen Cardiology the nurses could put a halter on, I could put one on myself but God forbid they let us do that because they couldn't make $3,000 to do it. As I'm typing this I'm getting more upset thinking about all of this especially since I've tried 5 times to get into contact with their human resources department to NEVER!!! EVER!!! get a phone call back. It's very frustrating to be treated like you dont matter when you spend so much time and money on and in their Hospital. And here is the ultimate kicker for me I'm stuck here because I was talked into an insurance plan that limits me to Swedish only for now. Please do yourself a favor and look at other options before you ever consider coming to Redmond Swedish for anything, it will just leave you feeling hopeless and worse off than you were before. PLEASE SWEDISH!!! Either make this a hospital to cater to the needs of us sick and injured people or just close it and level it to the ground. Stop calling this a hospital because it is very...
Read moreMy daughter went to the emergency room on the early evening of the 18th Jan 2022 due to heart issues (heart rate of around 160 bpm) and not being able to move or feel her hands and feet. She is new to the area and is not able to get into her primary to establish care until next week. She was asked a ton of questions at triage which would be okay if she wasn't hyperventilating due to a panic attack, however, when she gets back into the ER and is questioned about her vaccine status the whole atmosphere changed when the head nurse Roxanne found out she was not vaccinated. Nurses and Dr are there to do a job, NOT judge someone, NOT withholding heart medication and tell a patient they cannot have any medication until they change their attitude. WHO do you think you are Roxanne? Telling someone with a heart condition they should take better care of themselves as if my daughter did this to herself. Denying HEART medication is a disgrace to people in the medical field and then when my daughter complained about how she was being treated she was told the ER is busy and she was wasting resources. My daughter was IN AND OUT of the ER in an hour and a half!!! Are you kidding me, that is unheard of for a place that was supposedly overwhelmed with patients! Roxanne showed no care for my daughter as a patient because of her vaccination status, not knowing if there is a medical condition that may be preventing the vaccine, and when she was told that there will be a complaint filed she said go ahead. No accountability for her less than ethical treatment of patients. I hope something is done and people are held accountable for their actions. This was a terrible experience for my family and I would hope my daughter never has to experience this again, and will NEVER go to this ER in the future. I am only one person and may not make a difference with this review, however, maybe the CEO or another person that actually has morals, ethics and values sees this and will...
