Unfortunately I have been giving my money to sportsman’s way to long. Today was the very last day. Short and long of this encounter and I won’t bore you with countless others. Picked out a higher end open face fishing reel after looking at all of them. 25 minutes of looking no one around to ask for help , not one person ask if I needed help, not a big deal I got model number from said reel , search all okuma reels for model # found none . Simple, I took the display model and walked my happy ass to the counter to check out and the cashier has a lengthy conversation with the customer ahead of me for at least 10 minutes. The next customer steps up and same thing . Talking just to talk meanwhile 8 minutes go by and 5 people are waiting to check out . My turn , display reel in hand I explain to him I want to purchase the display reel , they were out of stock . Cashier tells manager woman. She calls back to someone in another department who tells them I have a display rod ( not reel) and go in back room to find it. The girl on in back reply’s back “so what am I doing “ manager seems frustrated walks to back of store and does not return. I am not kidding 20 minutes go by and I walk back to look for her then back to front of store and patiently wait. She never returned. Mind you this whole check out ordeal was pushing 30 minutes, I decided this is completely unacceptable and walked out telling chatty cashier They have lost a sale of over $200 and I will buy reel on line . Cashier was amazed that I was not going to continue to wait . I am not an impatient person , they had walkie talkie to communicate, could have called to front and explained the delay. Read moreTerrible bait and switch experience, albeit with their online store and overall policies/service. Weekly ad came out with great price for an S&W firearm. Woke up and immediately placed order online at 8:00 AM before stores opened. Called Reno store and learned they had no supply, so I was glad I had an order confirmation. Several days later, I noticed the order was cancelled (with no notice, no call, no email...nothing). Called the 800-service number and they admitted they were completely out of stock everywhere. Well then why did you place the ad if you had no stock?? They would not honor the price with a raincheck. Then they said they'd send me a coupon instead. They funny thing about that is that the coupon (once finally received) was capped at a max of $20 AND EXCLUDED firearms. I've bought from them before and I'm a club member. I will never shop there again.
UPDATE: As a consolation, Customer Service ultimately provided a $50 gift card for the purchase of another online item. I purchased something on December 16th, hoping to have it for the holidays. Read moreYesterday i went in to buy roof rack for my truck around 5 pm older guy was very nice and helpful in helping me find it, i went up to wait i thought was checkout area because it looked like cash registers were there. I stood there and made eye contact with young employee by what appears to be a drawing wheel he looked at me and turned his back thought it was rude, a simple can i help you would have been perfect. Went to an older guy and asked if anyone was going to be at the cash register and kindly told me checkout is currently at the window. I went up to the window and another younger guy was there. The box is heavy and big employee made me pick up the box and put it on counter because he did not want to go through the door to scan the barcode i thought this was poor customer service. I have been in this store once before searching for a certain firearm and the guy there was grumpy. This store should work on employees attitudes it makes me want to avoid the store in the future.
