iCare Urgent Care — Local services in Richland Township

My fiance got prescribed antibiotics to deal with an infection at this icare. We told them multiple times that she cannot take large pills and that she needs either liquid antibiotics or liquid gel tablets. They said they understood and would accommodate us. But, Instead of trying to accommodate a patient, they give her the biggest antibiotic pills. When we finally got a hold of someone after several attempts we were just coldly told to "crush em up if you can't handle it." They refused to change the prescription to liquid or gel tablets and refused to say why. I know the wu-flu has gotten everyone bent out of shape lately, but some degree of professionalism still needs to be shown in our medical field. We will never use this icare or any other icare facility again.

update After communicating with the staff further they revealed that they didn't want to prescribe the liquid antibiotics because it was "a lot of liquid". We went to our family doctor who happily wrote a prescription for the liquid antibiotics and the bottle size was less than a mini can of coke. They have no clue what they are doing at this icare. I have been here twice, once with my daughter and once with my son. The first time we went here because Medwell turned us away. We are patients of Conemaugh, so I have always gone to Medwell since they are affiliated. However, Medwell said they were too busy. This is after I called Medwell to see if they were open and taking patients. When we got to Medwell, we waited for 30 minutes just for someone to tell us they couldn’t see my daughter. I called ICare to see if they were open, and even though they were closing in 5 minutes, they took care of my daughter. The PA was fantastic! She took great care of my daughter and even made sure we had medicine before we left. When my son got sick on a Saturday, I knew I would go back to ICare. Again, we got right in for an appointment with wonderful and kind service. The PA at ICare checked both of my children more thoroughly than Medwell ever did. I would definitely...

I have been here several times for both my son and husband and I - Our little one has some chronic health issues and instead of going to Conemaugh ER I try to come here first. Recently my son had to ambulance down to Conemaugh anyway but the staff at icare did PHENOMENAL with my 6 year old and everything they could before deciding he needed to go to the hospital. We had to stop again today since the pediatrician could not get him in - I’m usually in pretty quickly and they are right to the point with ordering what medicine he needs/testing.
