GameStop — Local services in Richmond

I just want to post this here to inform everyone who stumbles upon this review, this store used to be kind of shrugged off a few years ago with a kind of “Just do what we need to do to stay open” kind of mentality.

Not anymore. It was taken over by new management about a year or so ago, and Matt, the new Store Manager has turned this store around to be one of the nicest, most friendly game stores around. All of the staff are awesome humans who have a true passion for gaming.

Matt has helped me and my significant other numerous times and keeps us coming back to not only purchase, but to hang around.

To all the staff at GameStop Richmond, you guys are awesome and keep up the amazing work! From one retail manager to another, I am proud of everything you guys have...

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional service I received from Lex. They went above and beyond to help me with getting the newest football game. They were super helpful and quelled any stress I had about the game. Their patience in explaining all the confusing pre-order options made me feel confident in my choice. Gamestop Corporate needs to understand that we do not want to be jumped the second we walk in the store. We don't want to be asked if we want to pre order anything.

You stress your workers as well forcing them to ask. You do not get paid commission there and it is in fact illegal to reprimand or force your workers to try and sell pre orders and new games.

This cringe worthy and toxic business practice is what is hurting your company. The fact that this particular store is owned by a woman who has never been a gamer in her life and doesn't understand anything beyond 'walmart' tactics having worked at Sephora her whole life...
