NO FOLLOW THROUGH! trying to become a new patient. Found out about a possibly serious issue. Filled out the online form. Got a call back a couple days later. Was given a phone number to have my results faxed to the Massey Center. My information was also taken. No more contact from the Massey Center (MC). Called them back to see if they received the fax. NO. Call the doc with the results. The fax number was wrong. Called the MC again. They said my information isn't in the system. WHAT? Gave my info again. Got a new fax number. Was told within 24-48 hours I would receive an appointment call. Had the results sent again. 48 hours NO CALL. Called MC AGAIN. Person on the line had a hard time finding me in the system. Actually, stated I would need to be put in the system. I told her I was already in the system and have a MY CHART set up. Then I was told they didn't have my scan that was faxed. Wait, they found my scan. I was supposed to be called by now with an appointment. They said, I'll let the nurse know and see if I can get a call back with an appointment. "See if I can get an appointment"? You can't just schedule an appointment with the doctor you want to see, like any other doctor. The call center is unbelievably terrible, and this is just the trouble you have to go through to get to be a patient. The doctors just need a secretary to make appointments for them, like any other doctor office. Really starting to wonder if my care here will be just as bad as this intake process. You have people dealing with life changing issues and this is the best VCU has to offer? Already called the patient advocacy line and I haven't even seen a doctor yet! AND DON"T SAY SORRY! Sorry fixes nothing. Fix your facility! 9 days an no appointment! Update: Patient Advocacy stated he would look into my issue. No response ever back from him. AGAIN, NO FOLLOW THROUGH! Waited 3-4 more days, Finally, received a call from someone at VCU or the Massey Center. Stated an appointment date for 2 months later. Asked the person, if do to my condition, is it an emergent issue. They stated we can put you on the cancellation list. They have no connection with a patient's needs or mental health when dealing with cancer. Why wasn't anyone with patient care knowledge asked to contact me. Why didn't a competent care provider call me back after my issue was brought to the Massey Cancer Center. This Cancer Center has been around for decades and this is the best service a cancer patient can get. The individual overall responsible for oversite of this department and some of the lower employees need to be let go, do to the fact, they can't recognize a failed system and no willingness to get answers for a cancer patient. I cancelled my appointment with Dr. Lance Hampton, went to UVA Cancer Center (Things going well at UVA), because receiving such poor care so far in the process, left me with serious doubt my future care there would meet my needs, which could possibly be...
Read moreWell I love all my doctors here . But the hematology department doctor I had was nothing short then putting my life and quality of last . I did the grievance thing there then was later cornered by that doctor and his nurse and basically back mailed in to signing a gag order ! that doc thretend me that he even had talk with his colleagues so I'd get know were there . Even thow my hemoglobin is bouncing between 11 and 10 . The Mayo clinic that I called in Florida agrees with me that not OK with what they're doing they were even willing to take my case if I had the right insurance which on working on thank God UVA looked at my case and is taking it . I as well did grievance prosess when had one other issue and let me tell you there urology department quickly turned that experience around and quickly and efficiently found my problem and hearing me out giving me choices for cure not bandaid to milk ins... FOR MONEY ! Love this . I want eqil rights rather I'm pore or rather I have good money or organs to give .. I feel so cheated what ever that nurse and doctor excuse is.. I had to fire there department to day before he causes me to need life saving blood again knowing are blood banks are so low and it cost ins. So much more and puts my life in danger . Shame on them at vcu...
Read moreLet me start off by saying, DO NOT take your health care concerns here. I initially came in for a consultation last year about a thyroid nodule. The surgery was explained to me and my doctor (Ben Schmidt) told me the only thing people tend to experience after surgery is that they develop a husky voice. I felt comfortable and agreed to the surgery. Here I am a year later with a consistent sore throat every day, horrible dysphagia, body acne, migraine headaches and lord's know what else that is being caused by this. I have tried talking to this doctor's office multiple times who lies and says it's nothing to do with the surgery. They just attempt to pass me off to the next doctor as they do not want to deal with me. My endocrinologist even asked why they had not offered to scope me to look at my vocal chords incase they were accidentally cut during surgery or if something else has taken place like an infection. I bring this up again to the doctor, all I get is written off. The billing department for these people is awful as well and they do not know what they are doing. Don't go here. Trust UVA with your health concerns before these charlatans. Medical Neglect is a real thing and I am going...
